Formula USAlDrag Specialties National Dirt Track Series Round B: Tacoma Dome be joined on the podium by youngest brother Roger Lee Hayden, who finished third on his Team 34-backed Honda CRF450R, while stock-car racer Brett Landes made his trip to Tacoma a successful one by finishing a solid second, sandwiching the Hayden boys. The Formula USA Pro Singles points battle also raged on between Terry Poovey, J.R. Schnabel and Joe Kopp, with Schnabel landing fourth in the main event aboard his Team WE Racing Honda CRF450R, while 1stlegal.com-backed Poovey finished seventh, minimizing Schnabel's points gain as the series winds down. Poovey still has a 38-point lead on Schnabel as the series heads to Del Mar, California, for its final two rounds. Series regulars and some of the Pacific Northwest's TT specialists also took a stab at the IT track. The field was narrowed down to 45 after timed qualifying, then to 15 for the main event after three heat races, two semis, and an LCQ. The 15 riders lined up for the main event, with Landes on the pole. Tommy Hayden got the holeshot, but Landes got back around the Kentucky rider to lead the first two laps. Hayden then retook the lead going through the paper clip. Hayden never relinquished his lead after that. For the first few laps, Landes was close enough to keep Hayden honest. Schnabel, meanwhile, was close to the leaders, but on lap five he fell while running third. "I was trying to keep up with Tommy [Hayden] and Brett [Landes]," Schnabel said. "They had gotten away the first two laps while I was stuck in traffic, and I got myself into third, and they were battling. I thought I could reel them in, and I caught them a little on one lap when they were kind of going back and forth. Next thing you know, I pushed the front end and fell over trying to keep up." Schnabel got up in about sixth, right in front of Bryan Smith. Roger Lee Hayden inherited third, followed by Zemke, and then Kopp. Hayden and Landes began to pull away rapidly, catching the back of the pack. Roger Lee Hayden and Zemke were third and fourth, respectively, with Kopp fifth. Schnabel and Smith were still battling. The battle for eighth, ninth and 10th was close between retired former AMA Grand National TT specialist Mickey Fay, Matt Wait, and John Hlebo III.
