Undstrom had equal gaps between them for the next three positions. Throughout lap two, Gillett made Zambon push to hold his second position. Undstrom fell further behind but kept an easy fourth spot through the end of the mota. On the third lap, Zambon and Gillett were tight in the berms. Zambon pulled ahead on the straight stretches to keep his lead and finish second. The second 125cc B mota resulted in Maki finishing first, Zambon in second and Undstrom in third. Zambon and Maki fought again later, in the 125cc (Under 15) class. This time, Zambon snagged the holeshot, with Maki rubbing knobbies right behind him. Holding the lead until the last lap, Zambon was passed by Maki under the American-flag corner. With Maki and Zambon's fans tense and clutching the track fencing, Maki lost it in the next corner, allowing Zambon to take the lead back. Hav- ing no time to attempt to catch up again on the last lap, Maki took his time getting up from his fall and still took an easy but disappointing second place. The second moto was Maki's chance to redeem himself. He beat Zambon for first place overall. The 80cc Supermini (Open) class ran three laps in the first mota. John Vandezande of Marquette, Michigan, took the holeshot and effortlessly held the lead throughout the entire mota. The future looks bright for Vandezande, as he just turned 12 and easily won the 80cc Senior (12-15) class earlier in the day. With Vandezande far out front in the 80cc Supermini mota, Johnny Kroupa started gaining a bigger second spot during his first lap. Daniel Avery found a line in an outside berm to pass Kroupa before the first lap was over. Trailing Kroupa and Avery out of the gates were Christopher Hughey and L.J. Quick. On lap two, Vandezande soared around the track flawlessly in first, while Avery held second and Quick kept third. Fighting for fourth across the tabletop finish-line jump on lap two were Kroupa and Justin Halberstadt. Vandezande finished first and was able to watch the rest of the race. Avery finished second and Quick third. Halberstadt pulled ahead of Kroupa for fourth, leaving Kroupa in fifth place. The top four in the first 80cc Supermini moto returned for a repeat performance in the second mota, though Kroupa dropped to sixth, behind Chad St. Amour. Results 50 OIL-INJ: 1. Treya: Sanderson: 2.
