mance Premier/Classic Trials
5 Motocross."
This event was the brainchild of Dick Mann,
AHRMA trustee and Grand National Champi-
on. MannIs intent was to offer opportunities to
trials and motocross bikes manufactured in
the 1950s and '60s - machines that are often
heavy and have limited ground clearance.
There have always been classes for Pre-
mier and Classic-era motorcycles at AHRMA
events, but the terrain is usually more suited
to the later and more-common Sportsman-era
bikes of the 1970s. The Premier/Classic for-
mat has become a standard in England, where
heavyweight BSA, Triumph, Royal Enfield,
AJS, Velocette. Monarch and Eso were born.
Perhaps it will take hold on this side of the
pond as well, keeping these old classics in the
dirt and out of the parlor.
