In round two, it took Larsen two laps to catch Kit Nay, and he took the checkered, keeping his perfect score intact. Randy "The Rocket" DiFrancesco came back from a poor showing in the first round and went wire to wire for some valuable points. Bobby "Booga100" Schwartz also led from the get-go to get himself in the hunt. Shawn "Mad Dog" McConnell had only one point from the first round, so he got busy and came from the 10yard line to take the lead from Robbie Sauer and never looked back. The game was heating up, with oniy Larsen haVing a perfect score. Only Manchester was close, one point back. One point behind Manchester were Scott Brant, Faria and "Fast" Ed Castro. The third round started with a bang when Faria caught Mark Adams at the tapes to take the win. Gary Hicks finally got going, catching Robbie Sauer on the first lap to win the second heat. Ermolenko took full advantage of the low yardage to ensure himself a place in the: semis. Castro finished off the heat racing with " come-from-behind win over John DeFries. The first semi had Castro on the pole, with Ermolenko in two, Andy "The Enforcer" Northrop in three, and Manchester and Larsen on the outside. Castro cut an ewesome gate zmd went out on top. The race was for second, and Ermolenko was the one on the hot seet. He was up for it. and he held off Northrop for second. Northrop would have one more shot, along with Larsen, in the last-chance qualifier. Manchester was done for the night. The second semi had Faria on the pole, with Brant in two, McConnell in three, and DiFrancesco and Hicks on the outside. Faria got a great start on his twin-cam Jawa and went wire to wire in the quick four-Iapper. McConnell. riding the pole, was home second, and he would join Faria in the main. Brant and DiFrancesco were headed to the LCQ. The LCQ was short and sweet; Larsen went wire to wire. He would be the fifth rider for the main. Faria and Castro were tied in points, so 8 coin was tossed to see who wouid get first choice of gate. The nod went to Castro, and he chose the pole. Faria would be right next to him, in two. McConnell was in three, with Enmolenko and Larsen in four and five. The first try at a go saw Castro and McConnell get tangled up in tum one. The red came out and a restart was called, with Castro charged with the red and sent to the penalty line. They loaded in again, and this time it was Ennolenko who got a great start. but he was
