Jason Mudd took the holeshot in both
250cc B motos on a Podium One/S&S Powersports Honda, but Michael Akaydin took the
overall on a Scott Hall Racing Kawasaki with a
2-1 tally. Mudd led one lap in the first moto
but was passed by Akaydin and Dale Jessup,
on a No Fear/Castle Distributing Yamaha, on
lap two. Jessup took the lead from Akaydin
on the next lap for the win, with Akaydin fin·
ishing a close second. in front of Mudd. Adam
Booth took fourth, followed by Kevin
Kirschbaum. Mudd held the lead for two laps
in the second moto before Akaydin took the
top spot. Mudd held on to second, in front of
Jessup and Booth, with Tony Hovk fifth.
Yamaha-mounted Todd Needham took the
holeshot in the first 125cc B moto, in front of
Koontz. Akaydin took the lead, in front of
Needham, with Koontz close in third. Koontz
passed Needham and started to pressure
Akaydin on lap two. Akaydin went down on a
tabletop jump and Koontz took over the lead.
A great four-way battle for second started, and
Akaydin took the position for good with a lap
to go. Jessup finished a close third, followed
by Egan Callahan and Needham. Akaydin
took the holeshot in the second moto and held
the lead for a lap before Koontz took over for
the win. Needham finished third in the second
moto, in front of Callahan and Ryan Caudill.
Koontz took the holeshot in the first Youth
(12-15) moto but went wide in the first tum,
allowing Akaydin and Brandon Ross, on a
White Bros./Wabash Cannonball Kawasaki, to
get by. Koontz quickly passed Ross and then
passed Akaydin in the back section on the
first lap for the win. Michael Bender, on an
N-Style/Ryno Racing Kawasaki, took third
place from Ross on the first lap, and Michael
Burke finished fifth on an Advanced Carpet
Care Yamaha. Akaydin took the holeshot in
the second moto, in front of Bender and
Koontz. Koontz took the lead from Akaydin on
the first lap for the win, with Bender taking
third, in front of Ross and Burke, for a repeat
of the first moto's running order.

unable to capitalize on it. as Faria, Larsen and
McConnell chose the low line and got under
him. Faria led the way, and it seemed the others could do no more than follow him home. It
looked like a very fast freight train, and Faria
was the chief engineer. The Speedway
Olympique was his.
The Dr. Denim Challenge pitted five riders
against each other - Larsen, McConnell,
DiFrancesco. Brant and Castro. The Challenge
is a simple one: straight·up racing for one lap.
and don't be last. Castro was the first to go,
followed by Brant and DiFrancesco. It came
down to Larsen and McConnell. The gate went
to Larsen, as did the two-lap race.
The team of Scott Cole and Chris Sears
got the drive out of four on the last lap to win
the Sidecar main over Danny f, Chris Jones
and Scott McElroy [, Mike Fontaine. The boyand-giri team of Joe Jones and Brandi McElroy are sidelined temporarily while Joe recovers from a broken arm sustained while riding
his Speedway bike at Arrowhead Speedway.
Jeff Blaydes ran away with the Support
main, topping Doug Benjamin and Rod Lenz.
Craig Collier was the Support B winner.
Carl Gazafy and Mike Hernandez followed
him home.
