On the last lap, Bumett put his Yamaha into fast forward, passing every- one that was in his way to take first place at checkered flag. In the second moto, Stevens put his Yamaha to work once again, taking the holeshot as Hajek followed close behind, ahead of Mees. First-moto winner Burnett got a bad start but was giving his Yamaha aU the gas to get into the fourth· place position. Dimick Dashes at Two Rivers By DAWN WINCZEWSKI MILLIKEN, CO, JUNE 2 Yamaha rider Dalton Dimick aced the 125cc C class at round eight of the RMXA's Spring Series, held at Two Rivers Racing in Milliken, Colorado. The District 25 event drew 550 riders, with balmy weather of 97 degrees making for a great day of racing. The Trl City CycJes/Fox/Spy/HRP-sponsored rider got right down to business when it was time to drop the gate. With holeshots in both of his matos, he got the lead on the rest of the class and nailed down a 1· 1 finish for the day. Dimick had some stout competition, with Wes Selby pulling second overall, Andrew Lehman in third, Carl Fritz in fourth and Michael Carder roundjng out the top five. "I jumped out in front on the starts and stayed there," Dimick said. "I've been training, lifting weights and getting on the treadmill during the week. I practice two to three times each week, also." Dimick's hard work is evident, with a very impressive ride on the day! This is the 14-year-old's first year on a 125cc bike; he moved up from the 80cc Amateur class at the beginning of the season. WATSON FORT WORTH, TX, JUNE 8 TH Racing's Tyler Heemsbergen topped the charts by winning nine out of 10 motos among his five entered classes at the fourth NMA Ponca City area qualifier at Village Creek Motocross Park. Heemsbergen outraced his competition in the 51 cc Stock and Modified (7-8) and 65cc Stock and Modified (6-8) classes. and even though he finished second in the second mota of the Super Pee Wee (6-9) class, he still gamered the overall win. Terry Cordray and his staff had their hanas full, as 333 entered riders made a day of it, with many of them trying to maintain a top· 12-overall spot. NMA president Ron Henricksen dropped in for a surprise visit. The largest class of the day was the 125cc Modified Novice class, with 29 riders. When the first mota ended, Tad Montgomery of Allen, Texas, had taken his Kawasaki to the win. Ronny Jackson from Rosharon, Texas, followed close behind but had to settle for second. Marshall Smith from Burleson, Texas, finished the first mota in third. The second moto was a different story, as some of the top 10 finishers from the first mota dropped back and failed to finish in the top 12, Jackson was one exception: He powered his Honda to the checkered flag first to take home the first-place trophy. The win also put Jackson in the first-place driver's seat overall among four rounds. Tad Montgomery finished second for second place. Steven Mc Williams from Joshua, Texas, took third in the second mota and, with his fifth· place finish in the first mota, he was able to take third overall for the day. Matt Ogrodowicz finished sixth in the first mota and 11 th in the second moto, but he still managed to gamer fourth overall for the day. Marshall Smith also dropped back in the second moto, finishing 18th for ninth overall on the day. Preston Primm tripled his way to three class wins in the 65cc Stock and Modified (9-11) and 65cc Open events after nailing six perfect moto wins. Brandon Glenn was in the hunt behind Primm in the Open and Modified classes, ending the day with two runner· up spots, while Blaze Blackbum used a 4-2 tally to snap up the runner-up spot in the Stock category.
