Loretta Lynn's Qualifier Wasb u I Motacross Park Sullivan, Hill Hammer'em Bv CLAY liGHT WASHOUGAL, WA, MAY 25 ell over 500 riders, from as far away as Illinois and representing 13 states, were on hand for the third and final AMA Northwest Loretta Lynn's Qualifier, all attempting to qualify for the upcoming regional here at Washougal Motocross Park. Among those achieving the pinnacle of success were Oregon's Rory Sullivan, a two-class winner on the day, and Washington's Joshua Hill. Hill was a three-class winner on the day, posting impressive 85cc Stock (12-13), 85cc Modified (9-13) and Supermini (12-15) class victories, despite brutally tough competition from a multitude of out-ofstaters. Hill went six for six in his stellar day to log the only such tally of the record Loretta Lynn's qualifier at Washougal. Sullivan, a KTM-mounted rider from Estacada, Oregon, posted wins in the 125cc A and 250cc/Open A classes, winning three of his four motos. Sullivan's only 1055 of the day came in the second 125cc A moto, where Suzuki rider Ryan Metzler overtook Sullivan late in the moto. Sullivan, though, still managed the overall win with a 1-2 punch, since Metzler's third-place finish in moto one left him second overall. Californian Richie Owens (2-4), Ryan Abrigo (5-3) and Jason Zuhlke (7-5) filled out the top W Washougal Motocross Park: Eric Nye (214) leads Tim Birkumshaw (101), Davis Didier (22) and the rest of the 250cc B Modified field allhe Loretta Lynn's qualifier In Washougal, Washington. Nye won overall, followed by Cole Siebler (171) and Birkumshaw. five overall. Things went much better for Sullivan in the 250cc/Open A class, as he jumped out front in both motos and remained there to the finish in each. KTM rider Todd Blanchard was Sullivan's closest competition in the first moto, but Blanchard was involved in an opening-lap pileup and finished fifth. It was the Honda-mounted Abrigo who trailed Sullivan at the finish and used his 4·2 tally to nab second overall. Yamaha rider Ben Morgan, new to the A ranks, finished third with 3-3 scores, ahead of Blanchard (2-5) and Owens (8-4). Hill's impressive day started off with a win in the 85cc Modified (9-13) class. Hill grabbed the lead right out of the chute in both motos and vanished. Canadians Brady Sheren and Kyle Beaton were among the select few on the day to keep Hill in sight, finishing two-three to the Yamaha speedster. Moto two was much the same until Sheren fell and Beaton and Shawn Haberlock filled the second and third positions in Sheren's demise. Beaton finished second overall, followed by Alaska's Ben Lamay (4-4), Haberlock (7-3) and Idaho's Ben Evans (5-5). Hill, from nearby LaCenter, Washington, came back to face similar competition in the Supermini (12-15) class, but in the end the top performer was again Hill. This time, Idaho's Jake We inger, who was all over Hill in the first moto, finished second overall via 2-2 performances. Beaton (3-4), Sam DeAtley (5-3), Sheren (4-8) and Colorado's Ike Jost were third through sixth. Yamaha-mounted Jimmy Nelson was the overall winner in the ultracompetitive 125cc B class - one of the day's largest, at 32 riders_ Idaho's Cole Siebler beat Californians Adam Miller and Nelson in moto one, but Siebler couldn't duplicate that performance in moto two and Nelson posted a win. Overall, Nelson (3-1), Oregon's Ryan Huege (4-3), Siebler (1-7), Tyler Duncan (7-2) and Miller (2-10) filled out the top five. Oregonians Tiger Lacey and Ryan Huffman battled during both 125cc A/Pro Sport motos, biJt it was American Suzuki·backed Lacey who garnered the overall win after his moto-two win over the Washougal Motocross Park-supported Huffman. Riding his newly acquired Yamaha YZ250F, Huffman nabbed second overall with a 1-2 tally, while Team Green's Mike Corder (5-3), Abrigo (4-4) and Travis Murphy (3-6) trailed. Corder's day improved after handily winning both 250cc/Open A/Pro Sport motos. Corder, who recently placed inside of the top 20 in the 125cc National class at Hangtown, showed impressive speed in his dual-moto wins ahead of Abrigo, whose 2-2 performances earned the Washingtonian second overall. Owens (3-3), Murphy (4-4) and Californian Beau Judge (5-5) rounded out the top five. eN Zachery Fussell (KTM); 3. Steele Angle-Davidson (KTM); 4. Brod Froce (KTM); 5.
