claimed victory in the X class, Baker's 1-1 finishes in the Intermediate division gave him overall bragging rights. The big-bike Intermediate classes featured a ton of fast-paced action that left some of the fans speechless. The 125s were headlined by Buffalo Soito, Brandon Jones and Tyson Enzweiler. Jones rode his YZ to victory in the first moto, but he had Soito on his back the whole time. In the second moto, the same two riders swapped the lead back and forth, but this time it was Soito who came out on top, and he took the class overall with 2-1 finishes. Enzweiler claimed the final podium position with consistent 4-3 finishes. Also, 125cc Pro rider Beau Baron rode at the same time as the Intermediates; when Soito and Jones stayed close to him the whole time, it was obvious that the upcoming Pro-Am event would be a lot of fun to watch. When the 250cc Intermediates took to the track, there was only one familiar face from the 125cc class out there: Buffalo Soito. The teen sensation out of Madera was outstanding on his hometown track. He held off a group of locally notorious riders led by Coarsegold's Matt Gaines, who suffered a bad start in the first moto and had to fight his way back through the pack. By the time he got into second place, Soito was nowhere to be seen. He gated a little bit better in the second race, but again Soito held him off for the sweep and the overall. Adam Hensley, who drove all the way up from Bakersfield, took third overall via 3-3 moto scores. All of the action in the Intermediate classes was just a tease for the big race of the day - the Pro-Am X class. This single-moto event combined Pros with the top Amateur riders to determine who would leave Madera with ultimate bragging rights. Jones got the holeshot and led in the early moments, but he was quickly under pressure from Soito. Baron, who was the only Pro in the event, got a midpack start but quickly started a march toward the front. Soito and Baron both got by Jones within the first couple of laps, and the battle was on. They went back and forth through the turns and side by side over the jumps. After eight laps of mayhem, Soito pulled off the upset and won the race. With the victory, the 17 -yearold completed a five-moto sweep on the day and could honestly say that he was the fastest man on the track. Baron would have to wait until the series' finals to redeem himself. As the saying goes, this race was "better late than never.' Actually, the extra week that the riders had to wait seemed to add to the excitement, as everyone was putting it all on the line. Up next is the two-day series finale in Hanford. CHARLESTOWN,IN, MAR. 31 he second day of Podium One's Easter Weekend Extravaganza featured a first: Shawn Clark made his first appearance in District 15 as an A-class rider, dominating the 125cc A and 125cc Youth classes on his Dreyer Cycle/Team Green Kawasaki. The weather was great for the end of March in Indiana, and the Podium One crew once again had the new track layout in great shape for Sunday after rain earlier in the week. Clark took the holeshot in the first 125cc A moto, in front of Yamaha of Troy's Mike Ivers and T.J. Blake, on a Paul's Cycle Supply/Suspension Plus Yamaha. Clark started to open up a lead, and Blake passed Ivers on the first lap for second place. MotoXtremes/Honda of Troy's Scott Metz held fourth place, in front of Nicholas Wolfe, on a Podium One/Hardin County Motosports Yamaha, and also making his first appearance in the A class. Metz passed Ivers on the next lap and then got by Blake at the beginning of lap three. Matt Richey, on a Flashes Suzuki, passed Wolfe late in the moto to round out the top five. Ivers took the holeshot in the second moto, in front of Blake and Clark. Then Clark quickly moved into the lead, in front of Ivers, with Blake third, followed by Metz and King Smith, on an Answer Yamaha. Metz charged into second place on lap two, passing Ivers and Blake. On lap three, Blake got by Ivers, and Richey moved into fifth place for the final running order. Clark got the overall, in front of Metz, Blake, Ivers and Richey. Scott Craven took the holeshot in the first 250cc A moto, on a White Brothers Yamaha, in front of Derrick Dewitt, on a Turn One Motorsports Honda, and Metz, who quickly moved into second place and started a great battle with Craven for the lead. Dewitt cue I _ held third place, followed by Smith and Wolfe. Craven and Metz battled for two laps before Metz took the lead for good. Craven finished a close second, and Smith passed Dewitt for third on lap three for the final running order. Dewitt took the holeshot in the second moto, in front of Metz and Craven. Metz immediately took the lead and Craven moved into second place, in front of Dewitt, Wolfe, and Wayne Ginder, on an Olney Yamaha. The running order stayed the same until the last lap, with Smith moving into fourth, in front of Wolfe. Metz got the overall, in front of Craven, followed by Dewitt, Smith and Wolfe. "Flyin" Ryan Sipes had a great day, taking all four moto wins in the 125cc Band 250cc B classes on his Kawasakis. Chuck Stewart took the holeshot in the first 250cc B moto on an F&S Suzuki, in front of Kenny Young, on a Ryno Racing/West Side Honda, and Bryan Wagner, on a Husqvarna of West Harrison mount. Sipes held fourth on the start but quickly moved into the lead, in front of Wagner and Young, with Will Busick in fourth place on a Reads Racing/Indy Cycle machine, in front of Brent Lee, on a Hill's 4X4/Hoosier Hilltoppers Yamaha. The top three stayed the same from there on, and Lee moved into fourth place on lap three, in front of Jason Mudd, on a Podium One Honda, for the final running order. Sipes nailed the holeshot in the second moto, in front of Stewart and Wagner. Then Wagner went down in a pileup with Busick and Jack Campbell, on a Thor/Scott Honda. Sipes pulled away for the win and Mudd took second early on lap two, in front of Stewart, Lee and Husqvarna rider Nick Lewis. Lee moved up to third on the next lap, in front of Campbell, and on the last lap Wagner moved into fourth place, in front of Campbell, for the final running order. Sipes got the overall, followed by Wagner (2-4), in front of Mudd, Lee and Campbell. Suzuki jockey Chad Canter nailed the holeshots in both 125cc B motos, but Sipes quickly took the lead for the win in each moto. Canter claimed second overall after finishing a strong second in the first moto and placing third in the second moto after being passed by Husqvarna pilot Chris Brown on the last lap. Brown took third overall with a 5-2 tally, and Michael Akaydin finished fourth on a Scott Hall Racing Kawasaki by going 4-5, in front of Ryan Pawley (6-4) on a Motoxdesign.com/Transport Yamaha of Richmond machine. eN Pedlum One MnIDple.
