by on the last lap to take the moto win. Garrett led moto two from start to finish, topping off a winning day with a win in the Over 35 class. Sewell was a hard-fought second, with Wallace Fincher third. eN Kilpatrick Motocross Kilpatrick, Alabama Results: April 13-14, ZOOZ [Raund 3J Kilpatrick Motocross: Jonathan Foskey swept all four motos In the 65cc (7-9) and 65cc (711) Modified classes at the third round of the Georgia-Alabama Championship Series In Kilpatrick, Alabama. . Kentucky's Taylor Perry geared up for a run at Loretta's with a pair of victories on Saturday: the 50cc Shaft class and the 50cc (4-6) class. In the Shaft class, Bryan Chesnee and Kyle Russell followed Perry, and in 50cc (4-6) competition, Eduardo Cordoba and Peyton Risner rounded out the podium. In the 65cc (7-9) class, Jonathan Foskey took the win in front of Parker Brown and Shane Hall, and in 65cc (l 0-11) racing, Chase Lee edged out Cash Barnhart after some bar-to-bar racing. James Ragsdale walked away with the 85cc (12-13) win, but it wasn't easy, as Dustin Rowe was on his rear fender in both motos. Benjamin Hamilton, Josh Burdett and Cole Cherpak rounded out the top five. J.T. Smith won the 250cc B contest, ahead of Jonathan West and Noah Harper. Auston Albers and Chip Weatherup ran away with first and second in the 125cc C class, and Kassie Wilks won both Women's divisions. Sunday's Pro class was full of national talent, as Troy Adams, Clark Stiles, Ward, Jon Boy Monk, and many others came out to test the competition at Kilpatrick. In 125cc A Pro Sport action, Adams and Stiles battled it out until the end, with Adams edging Stiles at the finish to take both moto victories. Stiles was second, followed by Ward, Monk and Kris Swaney. In the 250cc A Pro Sport contest, the outcome was a little different. Stiles and Adams rode away from the rest of the pack, but this time it was Stiles who took both moto victories on the 450cc Honda, leaving Adams second. Monk put in a solid ride aboard his Extreme Cycles KTM 520, finishing third. Fourth went to Dalton Motorsports' Swaney, and fifth went 64 MAY 8, 2002' cue I e to Will. Both 250cc B motos were great races from start to finish. D.C. Thomason took the point in moto one, followed by Christopher McCorkel and Dash Lyle. McCorkel ran alongside D.C. in a corner and made some contact and went down. That left it between Thomason and Lyle, and for the next few laps that's how it would remain, until Lyle found a beautiful inside line in a corner and got around. His lead wouldn't last long, however, as Thomason pushed inside on the very next corner, and the riders came together and went down. In the chaos, McCorkel got the lead and took the moto-one win, followed by Thomason and Lyle. Moto two started much like the first, with Thomason out front and Lyle and McCorkel behind, but McCorkel went down early and left Lyle and Thomason to decide it. Lyle again found that amazing inside line and passed Thomason, but this time he hugged the inside on the next cor- . nero Thomason went for the same line and hit Lyle's rear tire and went down. Lyle rode away for the mototwo win and the overall, with Thomason second and McCorkel third. Mike Garrett put in another ironman performance, winning the Over 25, Over 30 and Over 35 contests. The only triple-class winner on the day, Garrett had quite a few challenges along the way, so it wasn't easy. In Over 25 competition, Swaney took the first-moto win, with Garrett hot on his heels. In moto two, Garrett bested Swaney for the overall, with Chris Craft in third. In Over 30 racing, Craft stayed right on Garrett's rear fender the whole race, but again Garrett was first, with Craft second and Joel Sewell in third. Sewell led the first four laps of the first Over 35 moto, but a determined Garrett slid n _ wv s Saturday 50 SHAFT (4-8): I. Taylor Perry (Vern); 2. Bryan Chesnee (Yam); 3. Kyle Russell (Yam); 4. Series Round 1: Frozen Ocean Motocross Park Attack of the 30-Foot Roosters Bv LARRV WOOSTER AUBURN, NY, APR. 14 T he Western New York Motocross Association kicked off the 2002 season in style with 30-foot mud roosters at Frozen Ocean Motocross Park in Auburn, New York. Anticipation was at an all-time high, as the originally scheduled season-opening race at Hunt Motocross Park on April 7 was canceled due to the 6 inches of snow still covering the Hunt, New York, track. Concerns about snow quickly tumed to concerns about mud as Saturday's rains left sections of the track extremely sloppy. With a weather forecast for the day of partly cloudy and breezy with temperatures in the middle 60s, it was decided that the track conditions would likely improve quickly. It was also decided that the stadium-cross track was in very good shape, and it would be the best possible track for the 50cc and 60cc riders to compete on. "These riders are the future of our sport and deserve the best possible track conditions to race and learn under," said Bill Denman Sr. By the time the 125cc Expert class dropped the gate on the 11th moto of the day, the track had dried out in many spots, and it seemed everyone had their own line to run. Yamaha rider Brandon Kuhn took the first 125cc Expert holeshot of the season, but by turn two, Kawasaki rider Sonny Nighman had chosen a faster line and had taken the lead over the first tabletop jump.
