Bulldogs MIC Spring Fling Sacked by Marsack By BART NEWMAN MILLINGTON, MI, MAR. 31 Jake Marsack was the king of the 125cc Junior class, besting all comers in one of the fastest classes to run at the District 14 MX Spring Fling. The Easter Sunday motocross event is a long-standing tradition at the Bulldogs' venue, and factory contingencies from Honda, Husqvama, Kawasaki and Suzuki are available. Marsack took the checkered flag first in both 125cc Junior motos. Marsack has been hilling the gym hard this winter with his trainer • his father, Jim Marsack • after being bumped up to the A class after a great 2001 District 14 motocross season. Marsack will be competing in the 125cc A and 125cc Junior classes in D14 competition, with an eye on qualifying for the Loretta Lynn's Amateur Nationals again this season. New to Marsad's program for 2002 will be an attack on the Canadian Pro circuit, with backing from Inglis Cycle and MCR Suspension. Eric Mmer was second in both motos, topping Honda rider Aaron Smith. Chris Fillmore and Jay Jackson filled in the top five overall. In 125cc C action, Paul Gillett took a pair of mota wins to control the field aboard his KX125, running smooth and fast and floating over the rough Bulldogs track. Eric Thorlund (5-2) was second overall, bettering his first· moto performance by three places. Dan Munger (4-5) took third overall, fighting off Thorlund's advances in mota one but unable to hold him at bay in moto two. Adam Mathis (6- 7) kept his Yamaha in the top 10 both motos to finish fourth overall. Andy Pember· ton (6-7) turned in good rides to take home the last position in the top five overall. In the weeks prior to the Spring Fling, the track had enjoyed the attentions of one of the most talented 'dozer operators in Mkhigan, 98 MAY 1. 2002 0 cue I e Marl Cheza, and the facility showed the work put into it, as the riders raved about the changes that had been made.
