ATIANTA, GA, FEB. 23 The Florida/Georgia Winter Series was a big success and was enjoyed by all the riders. The three· race series visited Hazelhurst MX in Georgia, North Florida Motocross Park in Hilliard, Florida, and Alma MX in Georgia. The top three overall riders who rode the whole series received two free tickets to the Atlanta Supercross. The Florid21 riders won more classes in the series, 13, while the riders of Georgia won 12. Three riders won two dasses apiece: Myles Heath, Parker Trouille and Ashley Vickery. Heath won the Pee Wee (4-6) and Pee Wee Shaft dasses; Heath swept the Shaft dass, as Dillan Smith and Gavin Hicks finished two·three at each race. Trouille won the Pee Wee (7-9) and Super Pee Wee dasses, beating out Heath for the Super Pee Wee victory. Vickery won the 65cc (7-11) and Supermini dasses; Vickery won every race in the 65cc (7- I 1) dass and beat out Nick Mclain for the Supermini championship. The closest battle in the series was in the 125cc C dass. Jeffrey Tyson and D. Benjamin tied in points after the final r2lce. Benjamin placed second at all three rounds. Tyson could only manage fourth at the first round and had some making up to do. Tyson did all he could do at the other two rounds by winning each one. The tie breaker was that Tyson won two races and Benjamin did not. McLain placed third at round one, fifth at round two, and third behind the two leaders at the last round to finish third in the series. There was another close battle in the 250cc Beginner dass, between Cody Bronson and George Andrews. Bronson won the first two rounds and seemed to have the series in the bag, while Andrews placed fourth and second at the first two rounds. Andrews wpn the last round and let Bronson decide his own fate. Bronson barely got the dass championship - by two points - by placing fourth. Two other riders who won all three rounds in their respective classes were Jimmy Tyson and Matt Powers. Tyson won the 250cc C class and Powers the 85cc Beginner (12-15) class.
