Mohler was fifth. leading the Over 50 class. After the halfway mark. the leaders began to run Into lapped traffic and Kipp lost ground to Graves. The rest of the field slowly started spreading out. Antoon won the Open Age division. and Kipp topped the 125s. Antoon came home in third overall and second in the Open Age portion; Croutharel followed. Mohler finished fifth and won the Over 50 class. Nuccio beat out Lee to get second overall in the Over 50 class. Matt Kretschmer put his Honda at the top of the Vintage 250cc/500cc A/B contest without winning a moto. Kretschmer's closest two rivals each had one bad moto on the day. Anteon won the first moto, with Kretschmer second. Third went to Maico's Van Aderhold, and CZ-mounted Rick Smith was fourth. Gzuy Rosse won the second moto, but he only finished seventh in the first moto. Kretschmer was once again second, which gave him the overall after Anteon finished seventh. Second overall was up for grabs between Aderhold and Smith. Smith placed third in the second moto and won the tie breaker for second overall. Aderhold finished fourth and third overall. The Pre-1983 Open Age class was as competitive as ever. Ed Sherry Jr. won his second race in this class for the series. Last week's winner, Aderhold. suffered a DNF and a DNS and dropped back in the points chase. Husky riders Sherry Jr. and Sr. finished onetwo in the first moto. Bill Goldsby also put his Husky in third to make it a sweep of the first moto. Fourth and fifth weht to Honda-mounted Jay Smith and Bob Stimax. Sherry Jr. won the second moto to sweep the class and pad his points lead. Goldsby moved up to second, and Stimax improved to third. Smith once again finished fourth, as Sherry Sr. dropped to fifth. Glen Helen Raceway Park Ward Takes Charge at SRA GP Speedworld Motoplex Gatorback Cycle Par1c Woody Graves (357) and J.P. Antoon (11) fight for the secondmoto holeshot In the combined Gran Prix One classes at round three of the Florida Vintage MX Series in Gainesville. With the race heading toward the midpoint. Ward enjoyed a 30-second lead over the field. Canoy was equally comfortable in second. The third through fifth spots were up for grabs. Bacon and Black maintained their spots in third and fourth, though they were starting to get pressure from a trio of riders; Chad Blough. Craig McCall and Jim Henn. Black was the first to make a move; he got around Bacon for third. Blough was not content with fifth, so he also moved around Bacon for fourth and then headed after Black. Blough continued to match Black's pace for several laps before getting around Black to claim the final spot on the podium. Ward took the checkers with a flawless ride. Canoy finished a distant second. Blough crossed the line in third. The battle for fourth and fifth was still undecided after 45 minutes. Henn closed to within bike lengths of Black on the final lap.
