John DeFries put in a great ride as he started things off in round four. Brant came back strong in the second heat and was still very much alive as he broke the winning streak of Schwartz, who finished second. They were now tied. McConnell was coming alive. as he racked up another win in heat three. In the fina I heat, Fisher just came rolling along. and with his win, he became the only undefeated rider of the night. There was one more round, to determine who was going to be the King of Arrowhead Speedway. Krips started off the final round, taking the first win. Ermolenko was not done by a long shot, and he finished his night with the second-heat win. Brant outgated the field in his last race, and it would come down to the final race to see if Fisher would tie Brant or take the win. One point separated the riders at this point. They loaded in for the final heat race of the night. Mark Adams was in two, with Schwartz in three and Fisher on the outside. in four. The gate came up. and Schwartz cut the best gate. but Fisher held it on a little longer and that was all that was needed to take the lead. and the rest was history. Fisher was the first champion of the new Arrowhead Speedway. Brant, Schwartz, McConnell and Ermolenko filled out the top five spots. Hard-luck honors went to "Fast" Ed Castro, who had ignition problems all night and couldn't finish a race. Tomasz Hampel has always been a bridesmaid, but he caught the bouquet as he became the Division Two champion. Rick Valdez was ever so display them he did, as Wolfe topped Bellefontaine, Ohio's Willy Burton while conquering the 125cc A class and then put on a riding show as he rode alone in the in 250cc A class. While Wolfe spanked the money classes for all they were worth, a throng of fair-race regulars had great nights of racing, and many were rewarded with double·c1ass wins on the evening. In the minor leagues, Circlevill~'s Blake Hoffman refused to lose, taking his Cobra CMSO in for the 50cc (4-6) class win and then doubling up with the 50cc (4-8) Pee Weeclass victory on his Yamaha. Levi Kilbarger sank the hopes of the other 65cc and Mini Junior riders, taking both wins in stride. Cody Gang rode impressively for two second-place finishes, behind Kilbarger. School was in session and Derrick Arledge was handing out the lessons, thrusting his F&S Suzuki in for first place in the 125cc B class and ringing the bell in the Schoolboy class, as well. In the Vet classes, Ashland, Kentucky's Brent Blevins was the man, sailing his Honda in for the Over 25 and Over 30 wins. Columbus, Ohio's Chad Zaiser was once again the victor in the Novice divisions, taking the 125cc and 250cc C classes by storm.' The older 85cc classes were topped by Logan's Cody Proctor, who smashed his YZ80 in for class titles in the 80cc Extra and 80cc (12-15) divisions. Results 50 (4-6): 1 Bloke Hoffmon (Cob): 2. PEllETT GREENUP, KY, AUG. 29 Wurtland, Kentucky's Jared Wolfe spends a lot of time racing in Ohio's District 11, yet when the circus comes to town and the opportunity to race locally appears, Wolfe makes a distinct impression. With the Ohio County Fairs Motocross Championship Series making its most southerly and sole out-of-state showing in Greenup, Kentucky, for round 19, Wolfe decided this back-yard diversion would be an appropriate venue to display his skills. And PALMDALE,CA,SEPT.8 A great come-from-behind second-moto effort earned Charles Price the 125cc Beginner· class overall win at Los Angeles County Raceway during California Racing Club's Saturday night motocross. When the gate dropped to get moto one under way, YZ250F-mounted Jess Drake absconded with the holeshot over Matt Paullin, Jeremy Cote, Andy Maas and 17 others. Paullin and Cote traded places after a tap and then closed in on Drake, making it a three-rider battle over the lead. Cote finally found some daylight with only half a lap remaining to pass Drake for the lead. Drake tried to retaliate with only a couple of turns left but stalled his bike and was relegated to a distant 10th place before getting the four-stroke restarted. Paullin finished a close second, with Price methodically working his way up from a midpack start to claim third, ahead of Greg Owen and Craig Winston. Maas jumped out to an early second-moto lead, with Owen, Cote and David Robertson giving chase. Price gated in seventh but within a lap was up to third, behind Maas and Owen. Price picked off Owen a lap later and by the halfway point he had overtaken Maas for the lead. Price dominated the second half of the moto, going 3·1 for the overall. The 6-2 tally of Maas was good enough for fourth overall, behind the 2-4 score of Paullin and the 1-5 score of Cote. Teddy McToldridge topped three out of four motos entered to walk away with wins in Los Angeles County Raceway: Donnie Durrer swept both 250cc Intermediate motos for the class overall during CRC Saturday night motocross action In Palmdale. William Welchhance split moto wins with McToldridge for second overall in the Junior Vet class, over Doug Ford (4-3). Welchhance was a double runner-up in the Vet races, followed by Randy Wilkins (5-3) and Ford (4-4). Ricky Parks was equally impressive as he spanked the competition in both 250cc Novice motos for the victory and went 2-1 for the 125cc Novice overall as well. Brett Avazian went 2-2 in the 250cc class, with Matt Simpson using a 3-2 score to edge out the 1-4 score of Garrell Warren for the second-place trophy in 125cc action. Donnie Durrer and his Troy Lee Designs/Bell-back~d Yamaha were untouchable in th~ 250cc Intemnediate class, as he led every lap of both motos uncontested.
