CMC TransCal Nationals, Pacific Northwest Round 2: Albany Motorsports Park J.R. Meusling (8-4) and Husabergmounted Sullivan (4-8) filled the top five overall. Graves later returned to dominate the Over 30 Pro class with a 1-1 sweep, despite tougher-than-normal competition from fellow former AMA National rider Gary Beyer (2-2), who finished second, ahead of Yamaha rider Rick Walling (3-4). eN STORV AND PHOTOS BV CLAV liGHT ALBANY,OR,SEPT.23 awasaki riders Mike Corder and Ryan Abrigo hammered the competition at the second and final round of the CMC TransCal Nationals, Pacific Northwest Region. Corder captured overall wins in the 125cc and 250cc Pro classes; he was joined in the winners' circle by 125cc and Before The Hill Intermediate winner Ryan Abrigo. Abrigo, contesting one of his final races as an Intermediate rider, gave the Professional riders fits in the combined 125cc Pro/Intermediate class. Abrigo gated out front in both motos, but in each outing, Corder took the lead from the Washington rider to snare wins in both contests. Abrigo won the Intermediate portion to compliment his earlier Before The Hill win. The first to tackle the sandy track were the Before The Hill/Up The Hill/Schoolboy-class contestants. Abrigo, Huege, Thompson, Daniel Harris and Sean Light headed the 18rider field on the opening lap of moto one, but it was all Abrigo's moto. Huege, contesting the Schoolboy class, ran second to Abrigo but ahead of Thompson. Moto two was a Huege/Abrigo swapfest. Huege led for much of the race he fell and Abrigo bagged another overall win. In the Before The Hill Junior portion, Jimi Blackwell (2-1) posted a win, ahead of Pete Sannan (1-2), Heath Voegele (4-3), Mitchell Robbins (3-4) and Light (5-5). Huege won overall in the Schoolboy class, ahead of Nick Randklev (3-2), Harris (2-4), Brock Chappelle (4-3) and Jeremy Secondo (5-5). Another of the elite few doubleclass winners on the day was Poulsbo, Washington's Ryan Villopoto. The Yamaha speedster hammered the competition in the 80cc (12-13) division, winning both motos. However, in the Supermini class, Villopoto fell twice in the first moto and Idaho's Matt DeAtley won. Villopoto came back strong in moto two to snare the overall win with a 2-1 tally. K (Above) Ryan Abrigo went four for four to card a pair of overall wins in the 125cc and Before The Hill ln1ennedlate classes at the final Northwest round of the CMC TransCal Series. Villopoto's first overall win came in the 80cc age-group contest. Villopoto took command of both motos, with brothers Matt and Sam DeAtley trailing. Villopoto won overall in the 80cc (12-13) class, ahead of Sam DeAtley (2-2) and Yamaha rider Aaron McClinton (3-3). In the 80cc (7-11) class, Matt DeAtley (1-1) won overall, followed by Tommy Weeck (2-2) and Kyle Thompson (3-3). Matt Wilson, who ran in the top five in both motos, topped the 80cc (14-16) class overall. Villopoto took the lead at the drop of the gate in the first Supermini moto, but things quickly went awry for the 13-year-old, as he hit the wall of the tunnel jump and crashed. Villopoto would then spend the remainder of the moto reeling in Sam DeAtley, only to fall again. "They overwatered the track and I fell twice," Villopoto said. "' crashed once on the first lap and then again on the final lap. I hate that, but it's racing." Moto two went much better for Villopoto, as he led both Sam and Matt DeAtley, McClinton and Wilson into the top five overall to finalize his twoclass decimation. Corder had tough competition from Abrigo in the first 125cc Pro/Intermediate moto right from the start. Abrigo took command at the unleashing, followed by Corder, Intermediate Ryan Albany Motorsports Park Albany, Oregon Results: September 23, 2001 (Round 2 of 21 WMN: 1. Rhillna Stenzel (SU%); 2.
