quite a show. showing off not only his Impressive tricks but also his way of manipulating the
track. He flew around tums and over jumps.
"Pat was very impressive," commented
race promoter Randy Gillespie. "The fmal race
was great to watch for spectators. as the riders
put everything on the line for the overall
points. It was down to the wire, for the overaU
champion in each class was decided thlJlt
night. I can't wait for next year's event, as I
am sure we will see more great racing action."
MILLVILLE, MN, AUG. 17-19
Several Texas and Oklahoma families migrate
to Millville. Minnesota. every August for the
closest AMA Chevy Trucks U.S. National
Motocross Championship round. Spring Creek
Motocross Park allows the amateurs out on
the track the Friday before the Pros race to
participate in the Donny Schmidt Memorial
Race. Once you have ridden the famous track,
you have to plan on making the pilgrimage
every year. The track. the weather. the people, the Pros and the scenery all combine to
make it an experience you don't ever want to
miss. Greta and John are the ultimate hosts
and try to make everyone feel like a welcome
part of the family. Congratulations on another
successful year!
Representing Oklahoma in the Over 25 B
and Over 30 Vet B classes was Greg Ingels,
aboard his Kawasaki. Getting the holeshot and
finishing in third place overall in the Over 25
class was his foUow-up to a fourth-place finish
in the Over 30 class. Staying on the bike for
the 15·minute moto on a rough National-Ievei
trac.k was impressive enough without the great
finishes. Yamaha rider Eugene Miller and
Honda riders Bryan Hansen and Guy Brown
were first through third. respectively, in the
Over 30 class. Honda pilot Michael Lemke
took first in the Over 25 class, with Miller taking second. All the riders who finished in front
of Ingels are from Minnesota or Wisconsin.
In the 125cc B class, Oklahomans Josh
Johnson and Caleb Garrison, Kansas rider
Derrick Creech, and Texan B.J. Barnhart
muscled in on the locals. The Yamaha-mounted Johnson Came in 16th and was the first
out-of-towner. After three crashes in moto one
and finishing a disappointing 31 st. Johnson
came back to finish 10th in moto two. Creech
put his Suzuki in 21st overall, while YZmounted Bamhart came in 24th. followed by
Suzuki jockey Garrison, who finished 30th.
Johnson also ran the 16-24 B class and
finished 13th, while Garrison took 24th in the
250cc B class.
Another representative from Texas was
Honda-mounted Shane Garcia, who rode to
fourth place overall in the Over 25 C class.
Brandon Martin put his Yamaha in 12th overall
in the 125cc C class and 1Bth in the 16-24 C
class. KX-mounted Nathan Price finished sixth
in the 16-24 C class an"d 20th in 125cc C
