round of California Racing Club's Saturday
night motocross at Los Angeles County Raceway in Palmdale.
Corey Murphy emerged with the early lead
in the first 250cc Intermediate moto, ahead of
Neil Chisholm, Bobby Steffan and the rest of
the pack. Caselli had problems on the opening

cut some blistering laps on the J.B. Memorial
track and by the halfway point he had Murphy,
who was still the front-runner, in his sights.
With a lap remaining, a bobble on the part of
Murphy dropped him to an eventual third·
place finish, behind Caselli and Steffan.
The second moto was more to Caselli's liking, as he put his Yamaha Motors/Answer/
FMF·backed YZ250 into the point position
right out of the gate and continued on uncontested for the win. Colby Begin. who had his
share of problems in mota one and finished
fifth, bounced back with a strong runner-up finish for third overall, behind the consistent 3·3
rides of Murphy.
Ward pretty much dominated the first
250cc Novice moto right from the drop of the
gate. Adam Hurt trailed Ward throughout the
moto for a second-place finish. Roy Ledoux,
Brett Avaziam and Steven Kopy all took their
turns running in third place, with Kopy taking

Kopy and Avaziam traded second place back
and forth, with Kopy prevailing for the secondplace trophy. Third overall went to Hurt (2·4),
followed by Avaziam (5·3) and Ledoux (4·5).
