Hicks won the richest race of the night, the Scratch main, with Fisher second. The tables turned in the Handicap race, with Fisher taking the win and Hicks second. In the first Scratch semj, the pole went to Shawn "Mad Dog" McConnell, with Hicks in two, Danny Perkins in three and Bobby "Boogaloo" Schwartz in four. The gate went to Hicks. and he went wire to wire in the quick four-Iapper. Moving with him to the main was McConnell, who held off Schwartz for second. The second Semi had Bobby Krips on the pole, with Estes in two and Dukie Ermolenko and Fisher in three and four. Fisher and Ermolenko got off almost dead even, but it was Fisher on top and going away as they hit tum two. Ermolenko was a distant second, but they would meet again in the main. Hicks drew the pole for the Scralch main, with Ermolenko in two, Fisher in three and McConnell against the wall in four. Hicks got away, with Fisher hot on his tail. Hicks turned it up a notch and opened up some daylight. The race and the win were his, with Fisher second, Ermolenko third and McConnell fourth. Jim Estes was all alone on the 3D-yard line as they lined up for the Handicap main. McConnell lined up on the 40. The 50 was crowded as Fisher, Hicks, Schwartz and Ermolenko did their gardening. With the yardage advantage, Estes had the lead as they came around on one, but Fisher had already gotten through traffic and was running second and pressing hard.
