followed him into second. Taylor kept his screaming TM on the big VOR's fender until he could negotiate the midrace pass for the lead at the start hill. Late in the race, Taylor opened up some serious daylight, and he romped home with win number two and the overall Masters crown, besting Murphy and Kelly. Racing a little later on in the program, the 80cc Stock class, led by powerhouse Michael Parker, put on a show of speed and skill. Parker whipped the first-moto holeshot, ahead of Anthony Hart, Clay Cutler and Ronnie Goodwill. Michael, a genuine National-caliber talent, cranked it up and smothered any and all challenges to his first race win. Hart finished a solid second, leading Goodwill and Cutler at the end. The whippet-quick and always-dangerous Hart blasted off to lead Parker and the pack as the second half exploded Into action. Parker was smokin', but Hart was doing a good job of holding him off. Goodwill moved up into third. A valiant effort by Hart only prolonged the inevitable, as Parker made the pass and shot off to win race number two and the overall 80cc Stock-class trophy. Hart was once again a hands-down second for second overall, ahead of Goodwin and Cutler. r----;--..,-------,;----------------------:--:--:--,-, ~ followed by Blanco, Adams and Henry. The action died down somewhat during the second lap, but that changed on the third lap. Chakedis and Blanco were fighting for second as they approached the double-double. Chakedis used the power of his YZ250F to stick the inside whHe Blanco railed the outside berm and pulled even. Chakedis held him off by protecting the inside line on the ensuing corner. Henry motored by Adams for fourth and began chasing Blanco. On the final corner, Henry caught Blanco, railed the berm and tried to bring the heat into the whoops but couldn't hold his rhythm and had to settle for fourth. Hamel took the moto win, followed by Chakedis, who ended up with the overall win. ~ 0. ., o a: >., t5 r 0. Results 50 YAM/SOZ; I. Trevor Thomas (Yam); 2. Scenic Highlands Motosport Park Hill Hauls at the Highlands By ROB PErRAs NEWCOMERSTOWN, OH, JUNE 24 F&S Suzuki rider David Hill from New Philadelphia. Ohio. is making a strong comeback. The rider - who's sponsored by Dunlop, No Fear, Spy, Works Connection and Shoei totally dominated both I 25cc Pro motos. Though he was badly injured at this year's Daytona Supercross. Hill nevertheless absconded with the holeshot in both molos and set the fastest lap times of the day. "It's only my second race back, and I'm not up to full speed yet," Hill said between motos, though he looked smooth and confident on the course. Track owner Tim Bernard worked hard to tum over and water the track throughout the program. He's added a tunnel jump at the finish line and sand to many of the corners. The large, hilly course was in great shape. One of the best races of the day was in the 125cc C class. As the 25 bikes roared out of the gate, Jennifer Veltre Roberts, another F&S-sponsored rider, timed the gate perfectly on her Suzuki and grabbed the holeshot. As the pack roosted through the wide sweeper behind the starting gate, Daniel Nash took the Scenic Highlands Motosport Park: David Hill squares off a corner en route to the 125cc Pro-class win in Newcomerstown, Ohio. lead. Completing the first lap, it was Nash on a very fast Honda, followed by Joshua Kompa, also on a Honda, with Scott Darling and Tom Poling, both on Yamahas, behind. Roberts crashed her way out of the top spots. After starting 10th, Randy Salamon worked his Honda into fifth. Salamon dispatched Poling to fifth and set his sights on the battle for second. Kompa, Darling and Salamon whipped around the course, each taking different Jines on the wide track. When the checkered flag fell, it was Nash first, then Salamon with a hard-won second, followed by Kompa, Darling and Poling. As they blasted off the line for the second moto, Poling was out front, but Salamon dived inside in the second turn to take the lead. Kompa and Darling repeated their battle for third, banging bars during the entire moto. Their duel carried them up to Poling, who was stubbornly hanging on to second. Nash crashed on the first lap. He remounted dead last but eventually finished 11th. At the checkered flag, Salamon had a five· second lead over Poling, Darling, Kompa and Honda rider Mike Pieronek, who took sixth in moto one. Another rider who stood out was Treavis Poynter, a Kawasaki rider sponsored by Wiseco, Scott, Afam and Cycra. Poynter finished with four firsts, taking wins in the 125cc Schoolboy (12-15) and 125cc B classes, at times dicing with riders in faster classes who had stagger-started in front of him. Asked about his accomplishments, Poynter simply smiled and said, "I'm having fun today." In 250cc Pro action, Honda-mounted Chris Miller handily won both motos. Joshua Dohn kept him honest in the second heat. waiting for a mistake that never came. Results P/W BEG: 1 Dillon Petmnon (Yam); 2. Tayior Evener (Yam); 3. J.T_ Caner (Hus); 4 Toston Ux:ke (Yam); S.
