Carri er nailed the hol eshot in all six of his motos, includi ng both 250 cc/Open Pro Sport mot os. Carrier took the holeshot in th e first moto, in front of Larry "Sluggo" Gessner on a Cyc le Shed KTM and J eff Bak er on a Dre yer Cyc le Suzuk i. Bak er qu ickl y took over seco nd place and started to pr essur e Car rier for the lead. Carri er held on to the lead fo r the win, with Bak er finishing a close second, in front of Gessner. Hond a rid er Kevin Lam pe held second pla ce at the start of the seco nd moto , in front of Bak er. Lampe had fallen from fourth to eighth in th e first moto, but he was keep ing pa ce with Carrier and Baker in th e second mo to . The to p three stayed close throughout th e race and pulled away from Gessner, in fourth . Carrier held off Lam pe for the win, and Baker finished a close third .
