Scott Callebs (Vam) . ASMA Road Race Series Round 1:Arroyo Seeo Motorplex Real Road Runners ond after a hard -fought battle with EI Paso 's Bob Dillow. who is sponsored by Mr. Motorcycle. These two rac ers went at it for the entire five laps. This was the first road race for all three of the se racers. a nd they were really excited. Ja mes was pumping hi s fist in the air during his entire cool-off la p. Race n um b e r three. t he 600c c S u perb ike co ntest. was won b y Sammy Richards on his Yama ha R-6. Mickey Patt en . on his n ew Suzuk i GSX -R600 . finished a close second. Once again . Thornton and Dillow had a gre at battle. this time fo r th ird pl ace. In this race . Dillow came out on top! Thornton finished a very close fo urth. James a lso ran away wi t h t h e Open Beginn er win . w ith D ill o w in second spot and Mike Shreve finish ing th ird on his Buell. Roger Heemsbergen . a 25 -ye ar veteran o f racing from Lordsburg. New Mexico. ran away with both the Ope n Superbike and Form ula On e Bv DR . BOB DEMING. NM. T herefore. April 8 was a day for the his tory books . Relat ively h igh winds kept man y racers and spectators away . but those who showed up were treated to some excellent racing . The first race of t he day was the 600cc Beginner contest. Vic James from E I Paso. Texas. grabbed the holeshot and never looked back .
