Rob Smith, followed by Jason Palmer and John Henderson. Paul Shoemaker moved into fourth on the second lap, but the race was red-flagged on the sixth lap when Bob Babcock fell in front of Burkholder, taking a tire in the ribs in the process. Burkholder made the restart, but Babcock had enough trouble breathing. Just after the restart, Shoemaker tried to get under Palmer for second, but his movable front tire lost the battle with Palmer's immovable rear and he fell. Reeves was the first 250cc rider into the turn, and he started pulling away on his Arctic Circle-sponsored Honda. Corey Hormes, Jared Mees and Dillon Cava hooked up in a closely fought battle for second that lasted the entire race. Reeves pulled away from them, with his only worry being the ever-present lappers. Price made an unusual mistake in the 600cc Pro semi; he fell and finished last, but due to the small turnout, he still made the final, though from the back row. Taking full advantage of the situation, Phil Libhart put his Howell's H-D Rotax in front of Paul Lynch, Price and Jake Johnson. Price took second off the fourth turn on the opening lap, while Johnson dropped Lynch another spot a few laps later off the second turn. Price stayed close during the closing laps, but he couldn't quite get close enough to execute a bump-and-run. Joseph Schueler was the quickest 125cc rider, taking the lead from reindeer-antler-shod Dale Verzi, Chad Gochenour and Jason Isennock. Isennock moved into third on the second lap, with Verzi taking the lead out of the fourth tum a few laps later. Isennock moved up to pressure Schueler for second, but he fell in the second turn trying to get under Schueler. Gochenour managed to get a wheel under Schueler before he regained his momentum and took second. CN Caw Palace Timonium, Maryland Resuhs:December8,2DDO 50 OIL-INJ: 1. Megon Bell (Yom); 2. Rodney Farris Memorial Indoor Short Track Day Two: Cow Palace Reeves Repeats at Farris ST By BEN BREECH TIMONIUM, JIID, DEC. 9 H arve de Grace, Maryland's David Reeves became the only rider in the timed classes to win both nights of the Baltimore County Trail Riders/Cockeysville Optimist Club-sponsored indoor short track races, taking the 250cc final on his Arctic Circlesponsored Honda. The 125cc-and-up classes are timed to determine starting position in their heats, with the top four out of the four heats advancing to the two semis, where the bashing really begins, as only four riders advance from the semis to the final. On both nights, Georgie Price took the Dash For Cash, which is open to the fastest qualifier in each class, plus the next-quickest time, which is usually a 250cc Pro rider. With the Pro riders being the only riders allowed to enter two classes, Price did win both nights - the 250cc event on Friday and the 600cc contest on Saturday. Price's protege [ACCENTS] Jake Johnson got a good start on Saturday night to win the 250cc Pro class. Mark Burkholder took the 400cc victory, and Jason Isennock managed to get a good start and stay upright for the 125cc win. Broc Schmelyun won the 50cc (7-8) class both nights, with Cory Crenshaw taking the 50cc Oil-Injected win and Bailey Spence winning the 50cc (4-6) class. John Long III took the 65cc victory, while Ryan Henderson handed National Amateur Champion John Lewis V his first local defeat of the season in the 80cc class. Cory Crenshaw led the evening off by taking the lead in the 50cc OilInjected class, followed closely by Josh Standiford, Colin Webb and Cody Crenshaw. Standiford stayed close the entire distance, but Cory hugged the inside line through the turns, making passing rather difficult. With three laps left, Webb fell in the Cow Palace: On day two of the sixth annual Rodney Farris Memorial Indoor Short Track In Timonium, Maryland, Jake Johnson won the 250Cc Pro class. second turn. In the 50cc (4-6) class, Bailey Spence grabbed the lead right off the bat and pulled away. Cameron Tyson briefly held second until he bobbled slightly off the fourth turn on the opening lap, letting Derek Hersh by. Broc Schmelyun had no problem with the 50cc (7 -8) field. John Long III took the 65 lead right away and pulled some distance over Tom Mudgett Jr., but Mudgett closed the gap in the late laps when they were cutting through lapped traffic. For the second night, Joseph Schueler led the 125s out of the second turn, this time with Jason Isennock, Dale Verzi, Nick Taylor and Chad Gochenour chasing him. The order stayed the same for most of the race until Verzi tried to get under a lapped rider and caught his rear tire, going down. Isennock got by Schueler with two laps to go for the win. Once David Reeves took the lead in the 250cc class off the start, the pack split into three groups - Reeves blazing out front, Dillon Cava and Todd Stith fighting for second several lengths back, and Taylor White, Corey Hormes and Larry Weiss bunched up, fighting for fourth. After his bike broke in the semis, Cava did a good job of adapting to another machine in the final to hold off Stith, while White couldn't make his already wide body any wider and Hormes slipped under on the fourth lap for fourth. One of the more exciting races was the 600cc Pro final. Donnie Mullen grabbed the lead from Price, Phil Libhart and Johnson at the start, but he slipped off the groove slightly off the second turn on lap two, letting Price and Libhart by immediately, and Johnson got under him off four before he got his rhythm back. Libhart stuck to Price during most of the race, but he couldn't find an opening. With two laps left, Price bobbled off the fourth turn, letting Libhart by on the outside. Libhart was in front when cue I e they got to the first turn, but Price held the inside line. Libhart tried to power his way into the lead, but he either gave it too much throttle or slipped off the groove in the marbles. He bounced off the back-straight wall and fell right in the groove, gathering up Johnson, who had no chance of avoiding him. Both riders were shaken but okay. As he had the night before, Mark Burkholder took the 400cc lead, this time from Rick Price, Paul Shoemaker and Harold Brossman. On the third lap, Price bobbled off the second tum, letting Shoemaker into second. Price then fell in the fourth tum, with the top three staying the same to the end. Jake Johnson muscled his way into the 250cc Pro lead over Mike Varnes, Ken Yoder and Georgie Price. Once in front, he had his Deptford Honda/Yamaha-sponsored Honda in front and never made a wrong move in taking his first Pro win here, after winning a 50cc-class title several years ago.
