Ca nyon clea rly aced. one of the best rid es of his
career as he bested a w hole hord e of Bultacos on
the short track, and all but one 500cc bike, in a
come-from -behind win in a com bined 2SOcc a nd
500cc Vintage mai n event. Geilf us blasted off the
line midpack a nd then method ically picked off
rid ers before passing the las t 250cc rid er and settlin g in beh ind leader Steve Hall on his flyin g

the 500," said a jubil ant Chris Geilfus after his
250cc Vin ta ge win. "Th is bi ke is ba sicall y a

Casey launched the ir big-bo re singles into the

Corsett i immediately and aggress ively glu ed his

fou rth-placed rid er Rob Damron duplicated the
same move on Casey , seve ral bike length s back.
For five la ps, Corsetti showed no mercy, refusing to share the real estate with Sanche z, pa ssing
hi m in a gutsy move and then op en ing up an
im pressiv e lea d . Whi le Co rsetti pu lled away,
Da m ron cra n ke d up th e w ick a nd, two lap s
later, he dr opped both Casey an d Sanche z in to
third an d fo urt h, and chased the lead er , With
eight laps rem aining, both Corsetti and Damron
pulled away from the pack. Corsetti cruised into
the 'w inner' s circle by a margin of well ove r 1 ~
bike length s.
