Team Gree n-backed Jam es Marshall beat him to th e checkered flag in mot o one. The Max's Yamaha-moun ted Watts, how ever, had th e field to himself in mot a tw o, u sin g his 21 pun ch to claim the overa ll wi n. Watts was totall y a t the con tro ls in the 125cc O pen even t, winning the firs t mot o in front of Sha ne Dou gh ty and the second mota in front of Chris Istre. Th e 250cc Int erm ed iat e gate had Wa tts mat ch in g w its wit h Bre nt Miller in moto one, but the tables were turned in mo to tw o when he gai ne d the fro n t positio n and raced to the finish line with Ma tthew Fleetwood at his rear tire. The final wi n for young Watts came in the 250cc Open event by way of a pair of aces at the checkered flag. Flee twood and Miller chased Watt s to the finis h in moto one but traded finishing posit ion s in moto two. Bad luck p reven te d Wa tt s from a fifth overall wi n, in the 125cc B Intermediate class . He connected w ith the d irt in moto one and was only able to wrestle a 13th-place finish out of the 24-rid er field. Moto two belon ged once again to Watt s, as he raced in front of Joe Bailey 1lI and Dought y to the checkered flag, but Doughty and Bailey too k first and second in the class. Team Green / Granbury Motorsportsbacked Clay Hoenshell won all thr ee of the events he en tered, with th e 250cc Pro win being the toughest nut to crack. Hoenshell absconded wi th the holesh ot in the first mota, in front of rookie Pro Ad am Me nnenga, Veteran Dean Lane, rooki e Derek Gerdes and the seasoned Gray son Goodman . Gerdes passed Lane for third in the creek section of the course as Men nenga go t arou n d Ho ensh ell fo r th e le a d . Gerdes then put the w ham my on Ov er 30 Pro Hoenshell by the end of the first lap , as both rookies led the parade of 19 into lap two. H oenshell h e ld off Lane as th e younges t of the bunch bega n a ca t-andmouse race between themselves. Gerdes cha rg ed o n Mennenga in th e tower sweeper on lap three, taking the high line to Mennenga's insid e-and-low line. Mennenga, however, held fast at the exit and COntinued to lead as Gerdes breathed down h is airbox. As th ey en tered th e wh oops on lap four , Gerd es flip-flopped and wen t down on the last mound . Mennenga took a breather while he continued to lead, bu t Hoenshell had to . stave off the constant char ges of Bryan Piccirelli, w ho had worke d his way past Lane int o third p lace. "Pic" used th e tower swee per to his advantage and pinned his th ro ttl e ou t, but H oenshell saw it coming and sh ut the door at the (Left) Taylor Watts (92) took the holes hot again in the 125cc Open class, in front of Dustin Cantrell (6), Chris Istre (696) and Chance Staggs (186). Hoe nshell battled off cons tant attacks by Goo d ma n for th e first two laps befor e Good man mad e hi s launch off th e fi na l wh oop befor e the finish line stick, landing tire to tire w ith Hoe ns he ll a nd s licin g h is way to edge Hoens hell out at the first S turn, after having a tte m p ted the move twice before on previous lap s. Once out fro nt, Goodman let it rid e as Ho enshell locked and load ed in second . Walla ce held on to third, followed by Mennenga and Piccir elli. Hoenshell's 3-2 score award ed him the overall honors. Mennenga' s 1-4 was good for second, and Piccirelli 's 2-5 took thi rd .
