Kawasaki-mounted Thomas Kelley won
the 125cc Intermediate and 125cc (12-15)
classes a1 the fifth round of the PJ1
National Amateur Arenacross Series in
Rockford, Illinois.
Before using all of his tear-offs, Riker f1attracked around Woolard in a ber.mless corner
and gained the lead. Woolard continued to milk
the ponies from his KX500, but Thayer pushed
him out on a sweeper on the white-flag lap. The
two freight-trained around the track, making
time on Riker, but it was too little, too late. Riker
took the win and the overall, followed by Thayer and Woolard, whose third-place finish in
mota two was good for second overall. Steverson finished fourth overall, behind Hanford's
third-overall position.
The 1Z:;cc Money dass was hotly contested
as usual by Roger Thayer, Brian Young and Rick
Nesser. Thayer and Young each scored a moto
win; however, they also each scored a ninthplace finish.. This put Young in sixth overall,
behind Thayer in fifth. Fourth belonged to
Daniel Young, who was riding with an injured
wrist. Third went to Hal Martin, and second
place went to Dustin Cantrell, who rode a nearly
flawless race. First place went to the alwayscharging John Melton, who carded a 3-2 moto
score.
