Prieto breaks his own record at Moroso Motorsports Park By Lisa Theobald WEST PALM BEACH, FL, AUG. 23 Last mon th, Shane Prieto set a record at Moroso Motorsports Park with 10 Shoo tou t victories in a row . This mon th, he broke that record with the completion of his 11th co nsecu tive w in at the CCS Florida Region . He was gridded on the third row and got stuck in traffic a t the sta rt. He was forced to take a wide line through turn tw o, bu t he tu rned on the af terburne rs of the Blais Cycle Kawasaki 900 and im med iately pu shed his ma ch ine int o third place. Greg Esser was grid ded on row five, and by the end of the first lap he had moved his Honda 250 int o second place - a posit ion he would hold for the remaind er of the race. Priet o picked his way thr ou gh traffic and by the end of the second lap he had claimed the lead . He was followed by Esser and Pat w e ekley, and by the halfw ay mar k he bega n to pull aw ay from the rest of the field . There was a battl e ragin g behi nd Prieto for third place as Colin Gilbert worked his way up fro m a start of almost dead last (sixth row an the gri d) on his Yamaha 250 . He was all ove r Weekley and his GSXR7SO In the final lap o f . the race, Gil be rt mad e his move on Wee kley and charged th rough the checkered flag for a third-place finish . Prieto finished in first place ~n all three of the events he entered : the GTl, Unlimited Superbike and Unlim ited Gra nd Pri x. In both the GTl a nd Unlimited Su perb ike races, he gai ned a n ea rly lead and imm ed iately started to pu t som e di stance betw een himself and the rest of the riders.
