U p fro nt, the battle w as o n. Co mi ng through the w hoops sid e by side were Knisley a nd Dickso n . Dicksu n had a be tter li ne and made th e pd SS for the lead . Ellenberger the n started wo rk ing Knisley in the corners and finally made his move in the wooded sectio n of the track. Todd Streit and Robert Hafer we re side by side going dow n over the hill toward the po nd . Hafer was the first to rl.:'a ppea r, moving u p into sixth. Back up front, Knisley moved up besi de Elle nb erger and trted the o u tsi d e line as t he white fldg was waving at the. finish line . A qu ick block-pass in the big bull turn put Dickson in front of McGill . With Ellen berger polling a lead on the third la p, Dickson mov ed up behind Knisley an d ma d e his mo ve in the whoops, pushing him self in to seco nd place . Through the whoops, Ellenberger made a slig ht mi stake tha t for ced him int o si ng ling throu gh them as Dickso n tripled, doubled a nd then rode out of them into first p lace. Righ t behin d them , McGill was trying to do the same to Knis ley but w as forced to follow him over the hill to wa rd the pond . McGill ma de a move in the bo ttom and wa s a head of Knisley co ming up the hill. Kni sley tr ied the in side line of McGill be for e mo ving back into fourth pla ce.
