Jim Povolny (83) scored his second Pro main-event win In as many attempts during the Bud weiser Supercross at th e Sco tt County Fairgrounds. he started to come into la ppa) traffic, and M usg rave used the o pportunity to close in on hi m. Beyer bega n to d rop off the pace, as he see med not to ha nd le th e traffi c we ll. When the white flag came ou t, Frank still held the lead , bu t Mu sgrave was ri ght on him and loo ked d etermined to go around them. As th e du o eme rg ed fr om th e ba ck sect ion of the trac k, it wa s Mu sgrave who showed up first , havin g mad e the las t-lap pass for the lead. Beyer had fina lly cleared the traffic a nd was now right on Fran k's fen der. The last lap p roved to be a diffi cult one for Frank. as Beyer fo u nd a way a ro un d h im t h ree tu r n s before the finish and took aw ay the second slot. At th e pod of mot o one, it was Mu sgra ve with the wi n: Beyer was ru nner·u p a nd Fran k rod e in for third . The sta rt of mo to two loo ked like a Xero x copy of the first , as once agai n the quick-starting Beyer shot his Yama ha into the lead . Mus grave's YZ occu pied second , and Fra n k was in third, al tho ugh tha t wo uld be sho rt-lived . as he bobbl ed in the ch ica n e d u rin g th e firs t lap an d turned the pos ition o ver to Sarian . At the end of lap one, it was Beyer w ith the lead , Musgr av e in second a nd Sar ian in third. Beyer looked fast and smooth ou t front , and du rin g the next few laps he pu t a lead of abo ut five bike lengths on Mu sgr ave in second . Sarian st ill co m forta bly held the third posi tion. A t the hal fway mar k, Beyer was still lead ing bu t Mus grave had turned up the wick and wa s d osin g fast. What everyone hoped wou ld be an exciting battle rem in iscent of mo ta on e never materialized, as Mu sgr a ve moto red mo und the Yama ha of Beyer rat her eas ily o n th e next lap a nd im mediately ope ned up a five-second lead . Mea nw hile, Frank had recovered from his firstlap miscu e and was mou nting a cha rg e toward Sarian and the third spot. With two lap s to go, Mu sgr ave continued to pul l away ou t front , and Beyer retaine his second pos ition . Pran k ca ught d Sarian just be for e the wh ite flag and made the pass for third. Sarian wanted no thing to do wi th the four th positi on , and as the two riders completed the last circu it, he ma de the pass on Frank at th e downhill ro lle r co as te r and reclaimed third . . At the checkers, it was Mu sgra ve wi th the win an d Beyer finishing up in second . Sarian held on for th ird . On the d ay, Mus gr av e ea rned the overa ll victo ry by virtue of his perfect 1-1 moto finis hes . Tak ing the ea rly lead in the first 125cc Amateur mot o was Robinson, wi th Aaron Shep herd a nd Jesse Mi lley close be hind . These three ride rs stayed cl ose fo r tw o la p s un til She p he rd dropped out of the top 10 as Robinson picked u p the pace to pull awa y for th e w in. Milley : en ded up seco nd , wi th Co rey Kand fer th ird . Shep he rd came out sw inging in the second moto, grabbin g th e lead as the pa ck exited the second comer wi th Robinson and Jason Ragan in his roost . Sheph erd and Robinso n bega n to pull away from Raga n as th ey battled for th e lead , Shepherd took the moto w in while Robinson wa s seco nd - slig htly off the pa ce, but knowing tha t the ove ra ll was his, as Shepherd was o ut of the top 10 in the first mot o.
