while Bob Dunham split moto w ins with Mark
Hesse for the Senior No vice-class overall honors
during the Kal Gard-sponso red round of Californ ia Racing Club 's Satu rday nigh t motocross

Ramey reeled off th e firs t 250cc Begin ner
moto holeshot ahead of Baca, [are Spro u l and
d
Travis Sabod in. Baca dogged Ramey for the first
coup le of laps before finding dayligh t and taking over the lead. Ramey sta yed close to Baca
but ha d to settle for the runner-up position in
the end. Lance Larkin brou gh t his Honda across
for th ird , wi th Neil Chisholm coming from the
back of the pac k to nip Sproul for fourth.
CR2SQ-mounted Ramey duplicated his excellent first-mota start to once agai n lead Baca and
Sabodin as the second ro u nd got un d er way.
Baca latched on to Ramey's back fend er but was
having a toug her time making the pass for the
lead in this moto. With just over a lap remaining , Baca was able to make a pa ss stick and
would win the dash to the checkers to sweep the
class. Ramey took second , well ahead of Sproul
Larkin pu t togeth er ano ther great rid e, coming
from a last-place start to finish fourt h and claim
th ird overa ll for the nigh t.
Layman Ga ttis go t the jum p on Ress Benson
an d Hesse to lead the opening la p o f the first
Se n io r Iovice mot o. Hesse we n t d o w n a nd
found himself at the back of the pac k. as Dunham started to challenge Benson . Gattis bob bled
and fell to third , behind Benso n a nd Dunham,
who now contro lled the lead. Ga ttis repassed
Benson fo r seco nd p la ce bu t ran ou t of time
while tr yin g to ca tch Dunham . Ch ris Co m bo
and Ken Slater overcam e bad star ts to pass Benson for th.ird and fourth , respectively.
Hesse returned with a vengean ce to ta ke the
second -mo to win, but his eighth-place shewing
in the first moto held him back to fourth overall.
Dunham' s second-place fini sh to Hes se was
good enough for the overall. Ga ttis picked up
the second-pla ce trop hy with 2-3 rides over the
3-5 of Cumbo,
