a ro und the outside of Vincent in turn five, but
Vincent passed him down the back straight and
Hopkins wa s unable to catch him before the line .
Graves took the wi n, with Aragaki seco nd and
Vincent third.
Th e Tom Sera Raci ng /XYZ Clothi ng Co. sponsored Form ula Two event was a ra ce of
a ttrition, as two of the leaders left the race early.
Aragaki was the fastest off the line bu t los t the
fro nt end of his m otorcycle going into the firs t
tu m and crashe d . Tha t put Joh n Hopkins up
into the early lead , with Jere my Toye in second
and Ken Chase third. Over the next sev eral laps
of the Hl-lap even t, Toye ope ned up a gap on the
res t of the field. Ho we ver, the bat tle for th ird
wa s fierce betw een Chase and Bryan Kovarick.
Mid wa y th ro ugh lap three, Kova rick managed
to pow er pas t Chase to move into third . At the
$CUI\e time , veteran race r N ick Ienatsch sudde nly
joined the fra y for th ird aft er he had th readed
hi s way fro m the back of the star ting grid .
Rounding tum four on the next lap, Ienatsch
made a da rin g pass to ge t pa st both Kovari ck
a nd Cha se, moving himse lf in to possession of
third. Tha t d one, len at sch beg an chasi ng race
leaders Hopkins and Toye.
On lap seve n, Jenatsch's job got easie r wh en
Hop kins was forced to pull ou t of the race with
a mechan ical pr obl em . Toye, rid ing his Lee's
Cycles -sponso red Suzuki GSXR600, faced two
more laps to finish the race with the win. On lap
nin e, Iena tsch closed dramatica Uy on Toye and
attemp ted to move past him in turn four bu t
cam e up short.
AS the final lap got under way, lenatsch was
sitting in Toy e's draft down th e fro nt stra ight.
Rounding turn fou r, Ien at sch d ropped to th e
inside and mom entarily had the lead, but was
repassed by Toye as the racers entered turn five.
For the final half lap, lena tsch did everything he
could to get pas t Toye, but his efforts feUjust sho rt.
At the line, it was Toye over Ien atsch, with
Kova rick rounding out the top three.
