In the always-exciting 250cc Novice class, it was local rider Daniel Ogan coming out on top this week with a strong 2-1 showing. Hansen, Bartram split Montana Arenacross The Ultimate FACTS Machine! N t By Ed Beckley BILLINGS, MT, MAR. 7 Round 15 of the Checkered Flag Productions Bardahl/Dunlop Arenacross Series proved very profitable for Nebraska's Trent Hansen, Oklahomn's Kenny Bartram, nnd Colorado's Jared Carlson. "'Iond~ rider Hansen was the big winner, taking home $1200 of the $4500 Pro purse. Bartram and Carlson were each rewarded for their efforts with $SOO. Th~ first 125cc heat race started with Bartram out front, looking: to be a sure winner, but a haybaJe cover in the rear wheel relegated him to f.ifth place. giving Hansen the win. The second t25cc heat was won by Carlson. The main event looked like a carbon copy of the first heat as the F&S Suzuki/ Applied-backed Bartram grabbed the holeshot and started to run away. This time, however, Bartram was not to be denied, and he kept opening up his lead throughout the race and scored an easy win. Carbon and Hansen battled behind Bartram and eventually took second and third, respectively. Rounding out the top five was Chad Schaff, followed by Jon Hedden. The 25Oa: heats marked the first time in the evening thai the riders were able to clear the massive SO-foot triple jump in the middle of the track. The crowd showed its appreciation as Carlson, Colorado's Josh Kellog. and Hedden all cleared the m nster jump on the first lap. The three riders battled until Kellog made a mistake on the triple and injured his knee, putting him out for the night. Carlson went on to take the win over the Metro Xpress/ ichols/Pro Circuitbacked Hedden. The second heat was another Bartram runaway win. The rilce of the night was the 250cc mam event. Bartram grabbed yet another holesti.ot, with Hansen in second and Hedden in third. in the second corner, Hansen put an aggressive block-pass on Bartram. Hedden used the opportunity to duck to the inside and take over the lead, with Hansen now in second. Bartram stalled in the next corner and fell back to seventh. Hedden pulled a two-second lead and'set the pace for the next five laps. On lap six, Hansen made his move with another aggressive block-pass and immediately pulled out to a slight lead. A lap later, Hedden was passed by Carlson, who then began to reel in Hansen. Bartram worked his way back up to fourth and also passed Hedden near the end of the race. Carlson caught Hansen with just over a lap remaining. but he couldn't find a place to pass. Hansen took UPDATES!
