Black, Baxter blast Gutf Coast MX . By Neal R. Thomas (Lett) Tom Balut made a succesful transition to the Vet Intermediate division by winning the class with a 1·2 moto score in Kent, WaShington. newly designed track. The first race of each cia s was a three-lap qualifier to ensure a spot on the gate for the main event. Karle was quick off the gate in the 2SOcc Pro qualifier and was chased bY' Rodney Carrier, Larry Gessner, Scott Graves and Buddy Brooks. By the second lap, Carrier had taken charge as Karle dropped to fourth. The final lap saw Karle begin to charge toward the front-runners as he passed Gessner and closed in on Graves. Karle's quest for the win almost ended as he lost control of his machine and his feet came off the pegs while he was negotiating a comer. Carrier took the checkered as Gessner went high on the final berm of the-course to allow Karle to sneak by on the inside to land second. Gessner finished third with Graves fourth. AU riders went into the main event with a clean slate and Carrier was first around tum one followed by Karle, who stayed on Carrier's rear fender as the duo concentrated on the COutse obstacles. The pair rode in unison over a tabletop jump, and Karle edged out Carrier to take over the front position and began to pull away. G.raves began to gain on Carrier in second place through the whoop section but slowed through the rougher sections of the track. By the whiteflag lap, Graves had fallen off the pace, while Karle landed the win with Carrier finishing second, Graves third. Keith Sheldon fourth and Gessner fifth. Karle again shot off the gate in the first round of the 125cc A class with Christopher Cart, Graves, Robby Cook, Rusty McCubbin and Brooks close at hand. Graves opened the throttle on his machine to move by Cart, taking over second and closing the gap on Karle, who kept his pace to be first to the checkered flag in the qualifying round. Graves bounced back in the main to finally take a win.. Karle finished second with Cart third. Results 250 PRO: I. Paul Karle (Suz); 2. Rodney Carrier (KTM); 3. Sc=ott Grave5 (Han); 4.
