east Area Qualifier for Lorretta Lynn's AMA Amateur National Motocross held at Motocross' of Marion County and won both classes he entered, the 125cc A Modified and 250cc A Modified classes. Some 260 riders from seven states tried to make the cut to qualify for the Regionals. In both 12Scc A Mod motos Carmichael (fresh off of his first National MX win) led both motos wire to wire with Jarrell Tipping finishing in the runner-up spot, followed by Jacob Fogg, Kenny Jones and Alan Sanders. In the first 250cc A Modified race Cannichael led from the drop of the gate to the checkered flag with Jones and Andrew DeSpain following him across the line in second and third, respectively. Moto two saw Carmichael blast out of the gate and lead for two laps, until falling in a tum and handing the lead position to Tipping. Jones also passed the downed Carmichael, but Cannichael remounted quickly and within a lap had overtaken Jones for second. Cannichael closed in on Tipping and pressured him for the lead. Two laps later Cannichael slipped by Tipping, edged him out entering a tum. and went on for the win. Three .seconds back came Jones, followed by DeSpain and Sanders. For the second week in a row, HSKS of Ocala/Boyesen/Thor-backed Ryan Davis was the only triple class winne.r of the day. Davis scored the hat trick in the SOcc 14-.to 15-year-Qld Stock, 80cc 14- to 15-year-old Modified and Super Mini classes as he won all six motos run. Team Green pilot James Stewert returned to action after recovering from his Mini..Qlympic injuries.
