Chamberlain tops at Sarona Oaks MX By Homer Eubanks RAMONA, CA. MAR. 15 Round two of the CMMC Barona Oaks Series saw Jim Chamberlain take charge in the Pro class by scoring back-to-back wins in the 250cc event. However, the win wasn't as easy as it sounds, as David Demangos certainly made Chamberlain work for his money while charging to a second-place finish. In the Old Pharts A (30-34) division, Chris Swift and Don Connelly again provided most of the action. Swift grabbed the holeshot in both motos and Connelly was always right there ready to pounce. In moto one, Connelly quickly made his move, passing Swift during the last lap and holding him at bay for the rest of the race to score the win. It looked as though the song would be the same in the second moto when Swift again took the holeshot and Connelly began pestering the . early leader. However, when Connelly went to pass Swift, the two riders locked elbows upon landing from a double jump and Swift went flying head over heels through the air. Despite the spectacular get-off, Swift quickly dusted himself off and jumped back on his Honda. By the lime he got going again, Connelly was long gone, scoring his second win, while Swift finished a hard-eamed second. Kevin Chimits charged to victory in the first 250cc Beginner moto and appeared to be headed for another victory in the second moto when. through the last tum, first-moto fifth-place fInisher Larry Sullon jumped to the inside and pushed Chimits out of the way. Despite gelling stuffed back to second, Chimits still took home the first-place trophy, while Sutton ended up second. Eric Johnson had a 4-3 day for third overall. Clinton Pierce holeshot both SOc Stock (9-11) motos but just could not do anything about Ryan Beat, who slipped by him in both motos to take the wins. Shaun Connelly earned third with a pair of thirds. Results INTRO TO MX A: 1. G;lvilan McF;lrland (Suz); 2. Cory Dawson (Vam); 3. Travi. Ramsey (Vam); 4. Dustin McNeil (Kaw). INTRO TO MX 8: 1.
