Jesseman jams at Challenger Raceway MX By Julie Kramer JACKSONVILLE, PA, SEPT. 15 Only a month after claiming two national titles in the BOcc classes at Loretta> Lynn's Amateur Nationals, Branden Jesseman moved up to a USee machine and took the 125cc B class by storm, winning both motos in the second round of the District 5 State Championship series at Challenger Raceway. When the 125cc B class shot uphJII for the start of the first mota, it wasn't Jesseman out front but instead Doug Stofko with Tim Stroyne, jesseman, jeff Nelson and Ryan Gates rounding out the top five. Jesseman wasted. no time and within half of the first lap had cruised by Stroyne over a set of doubles and set his eyes on Stofko. Coming up on the green flag, jessman blew past Stofko over a set of doubles and shot uphill to spend the rest of his day roost free. As jesseman began to pull away from the pack, Gates was on the move. Gates slid by Nelson going through the whoops section and shortly was pushing 9n second-place Stroyne's back tire. Also taking advantage of Nelson in this second lap was Craig Maurer, squeaking by to take fifth place. As the action between Stroyne and Gates began to heat up, Stroyne crashed coming into a left·hander and lost about five places, bringing Brad Astalos into the top ave. By the end of lap three, jesseman aheady had pulled an eight-second lead over his competitors and glided to an easy mota win. Rumored to have been tu.ming lap tim.es a second or two faster than local hero Davey Yezek, it was obvious how fast Jesseman was really going when he turned it on at the start of tl).e second mota. Although Paul Carpenter, jeremy Brown, Stofko and Gates weren't far behind, Sandy Parisi (208) topped the 25+ class at Ohio's Malvern Motocross Park. there was no stopping the American Suzuki/ Cemic's-backed jesseman. Gates again had to come up from behind and made his move on Stofko in lap two, and promptly began chasing after Brown. When the checkered flag came out, jesseman sailed across the finish for first overall with Carpenter following in second. The race for the last three postions lasted to the checkers, with Brown coming across third with Gates on his back fender. Coming across the doubles before the finish Mitch Ward was able to capture the fifth position, passing Stofko and Stroyne. Results 50 (4-6): 1. Darryn Durham (Yam); 2. Nicholas Liccardi (KIM); 3. Parisi pounces at Malvern Motocross By Steve Middlesworth MALVERN, OH, SEPT. 15 Sandy Parisi returned from practice sessions at Malvern Motocross Park knowing that he was going to own the track for his Over 25-class races. "I love it like this when it's rough, rutted and sticky:' Parisi said. However, Dave Jones roared through the right-hand, sweeping first tum and exited with the lead, Ken Frankeberg and Parisi on his rear fender. Parisi disposed of Frankeberg just past the announcers' tower and passed Jones in the roadside section for the lead he would never give up. Frankeberg hounded jones for the duration, getting by in the late stages of the race. Parisi ended up in fourth after the start of mota two, but got the lead on the first lap and proceeded to run to the checkered flag. Frankeberg ran a solid second and had about 10 seconds on Jones in third and Jim Filkorn in fourth. In 250cc C class Dave Smith snatched up the first-moto holeshot, but he was shortly displaced by Brian Aldridge. Smith and Aldridge were hanging close together, with the battle for third being waged a few seconds behind among Harry Dewezek, jack Clark and Bryan Greve. Clark slipped past Dewezek for the position while Brent Belsole slid into fifth when Greve crashed along the back side of the track. Aldridge crossed the finish with the moto win followed by Clark, Dewezek, and Belsole rounding out the top five. Aldridge seized the lead early in mota two. lf Smith was entering any thoughts of an overall, he was going to have to get by Dewezek and Greve as well as catch and pass Aldridge. Midway through, Smith overtook Dewezek over the triple on the top of the track, but he was going to have to make up an eight-second deficit to catch Aldlridge. On the last lap, Smith had closed the gap but failed to make the pass. Belsole worked his way into third by the end with the Brandon jones and Dewezek filling out the top five. Results: JR PI W: 1.
