Mike Kann (37) gets some air on his way to victory In the 125cc A class In Mazeppa, Minnesota. by regular fast guy Ryan Megaw. Megaw grabbed the lead in the whoops section, followed by Jamey Grosser and Kremer in tow. With one lap in, Megaw held the lead, followed by Grosser, Kremer, Derrick Kjelman. Jason K1eppen and Evenson. On the second lap, Kremer got by Grosser for second. The lead positions held to the finish of the six-lap race, with Megaw first ahead of Kremer, Grosser, Hjelman and Kleppen. In moto two, Kremer nailed a huge holeshot with Megaw, Robert Newport and the rest of the 14-rider field behind. By the end of the second lap, Megow slipped. back to third with Hjelman now in second. When the checkers flew, it was Kremer with a comfortable win, followed by Hjelman and Megaw, alone in second and third respectively, followed by Grosser and Newport. Results MIC MINI (4-6): 1. Jeff Jukich. Gottas storms to win at Hurricane Hills Motocross Bowman and Jason Warner as Kann rode flawlessly out front, holding off Ezerins. Bowen clearly was the fastest rider on the track, however, picking off other riders with lines most of us wouldn't even consider taking. LBZ's Kann was first at the checkers, followed by Torque Centerbacked Ezerins, Young America's Ryan DeGroot and Bowen. Andy Bowman took the second 12Scc A holeshot, followed by Ezerins, Bowen and De Groot. Bowen wasted no time getting around Ezerins and Bowman, reaching the checkers first, followed by Ezerins, DeGroot, and Young America-backed Karter Busse. Kann crushes Mazeppa MX By George Hodkinson Photo by ~ HodIdn~ MAZEPPA, MN, SEPT. 1 Michael Kann and Ben Kremer were the overaJl winners in the 125cc A and 125cc B classes at Hurricane Hills. Jerod Fortune grabbed the holeshot in the first 12Sce A moto, followed by Lee Theis and Pat Ready. By the end of lap one, Theis, Fortune, Ready, Kann and Tim Pospisil were battling for the lead. After the second lap, however, Fortune slipped back into the pack and Theis had a commanding lead over Ready, Pospisil and Kann. The rest of the moto saw Kann pick off the rest of the leaders one by one to score the moto win with Theis in second. Ready, Fortune and Bryan Burgess completed the top five. Fortune again led off the start in mota two with Kann in second, followed by Theis and Pospisil. Kann got by Fortune in the whoops on lap two and cruised to the win as Fortu.ne DNFed. Theis closed the gap held by Kann at the finish, but wasn't able to make a pass as Pospisil took third. Mike Luoma took fourth after missing the first moto and Burgess was fifth. . The 12Scc B class had arguably the best racing of the weekend. 10 moto one, new B rider Mike Evenson grabbed the holeshot, followed By George Hodkln~ MAZEPPA, MN, SEPT. 2 Jake Gallas dominated the Mini Open (lG-lS) and Mini (12-13) cJasses at Hurricane Hills MX Park. At the start of the first Mini Open (10-15) moto, Josh Plan led Bobby Widman. Gollas, Matt Powers and the rest of the 17-rider field into the first tum. Gallas got the upper edge on Plan for the lead in the first lap, with Widman. Powers and Ryan Schultz rounding out the top five. In the second and third laps, it was clear that Gottas was in control of the race as he pulled away from Plan and the rest. At the checkers Gallas finished with a big lead, followed closely by Plan and Powers, with Widman a lonely fourth and Schultz.fifth. At the start of moto two, Widman grabbed the holeshot, with Powers and Gottas behind. Gollas quickly passed Powers in the first set of whoops and then reeled in Widman by the end of lap one to walk away with another win. Finishing behind him were Powers, Widman. Plan and Eric VanSteenwyk. Cherokee Honda-backed Gottas also won both motos in the Mini (12-13) class. Ricki Dell le,\ the 125cc C closs at the start of moto one, followed by Luke Adelmann. Dell led most of the moto, but a number of riders including Eric Haseline and John Henderson were moving through the pack. At the end of the second lap, the order was Dell; Adelman, HaseJine, Henderson and Luke Fox.
