Erneka Ude" (Hon, PALMDALE, CA, SEPT. 14 Ruthann Renaux proved she's still got what it takes by winning the Old Timers MX Association's Amateur class at the Los Angeles County Raceway during California Racing Qub's Saturday night motocross. Things didn't start well for Renaux in mota one, as she went down on the opening lap and found herself in last place. Meanwhile, Rick Kanatzar was running away with the moto win. Renaux never gave up hope and continued charging the entire cace to pass Richard Bealer in the final tun.' on the last lap for a welJ-deserved runner-up finish. RMl25-mounted Renaux showed the boys she meant business by grabbing the secondmoto start over a field of mostly 250cc machines. Kanatzar came from his fourth-place start to move into second within a lap and set out after Renaux. Kanatzar caught Renaux and would dog her up to the midway point when he lost his front end in a tum and went down. Renaux suddenly had a lS-second lead and the second-moto win in the bag. Kanatzar dosed to within five seconds of Renaux, but time ran out. Beale,[ went 3-3 to top Charles Watanabe and John Flanders. Frank Derby picked up the Old Timers Novice first-moto victory over Raleigh Webster. John Webb was in the thick of i.t until going down on lap four. Webb led every inch of round two. Derby kept Webb honest all the way to the checkers for the overall honors. Mike Ferro went wire-to-wire for the Old Timers Expert first-round win. Scott Freeman hounded Ferro in second for almost the entire MORENO VALLEY, CA, SEPT. 14 Jason Medina flexed hjs 60cc muscle at Starwest's Saturday Night at the races. When the gate fell for the first moto, Medina took the holeshot, pursued by Tyson Talkington, Steven Forsythe and Justin Yeast. One lap into the moto, Medina was able to put six seconds between himself and Talkington. FOl)'ythe had to worry about a closing Ryan Caley while Yeast continued to distance himself from Forsythe. On the white-flag lap, Medina had a 2Q-second lead on Talkington with Talkington the same from Yeast. Caley had closed to within striking distance of Forsythe and looked poised to make the pass when all of a sudden, the front end went out from under Caley as he charged to the inside line of a berm. Caley's mistake allowed Forsythe enough time to hold on and come across the line in fourth. . The second molo started with Medina once again reeling off the holeshot, followed by Talkington, Yeast, Forsythe and Caley.. As the three front-runners distanced themse.lves from the rest of the pack, the race was for fourth when Forsythe and Caley resumed the previous moto's battle. All molo long, Caley was looking to get around Forsythe, who was riding as wide as possible. With one lap to go, Yeast went down, handing the third and fourth positions to Forsythe and Caley. This opportunity was too much for Caley to resist, and he immediately wicked it up and was able to get around Forsythe to secure third before the checkered flag. Results 50 STRIR (~~ 1.
