Second-moto action saw the normally slowstarting Stacey take the holeshot with Sheedy in second but matching Stacey's pace. Jerominski and Hill had gone down in the first tum but were working their way back up when Stacey took the win over Sheedy. Jinuny Randa held off a strong last-lap push by Jerominski to claim third. Moto one of the 125cc A class kicked off when Stacey, Sheedy, and Jerominski left the start line one, two, three. The trio kept equal distance between them until passing under the checkered flag. Tim Damron was fourth with Jim Randa fifth. :Rain transformed the track from wellgroomed into well-greased for the second moto, but Brandon Roberts managed to improve his first-moto eighth by taking the early lead and maintaining it until the last lap. The last-lap slip by Roberts was all Jerominski needed as he iuherited the lead for the moto and the overall wins. Roberts remounted and made a charge that earned him second place and fifth overall. Stacey and Sheedy had likewise fallen, but came through for third and fourth. Results so JR: 1. Joe Lanerefto (KTM); 2. Chris Monsen (Yam); 3. Robert Mauch; 4. Mol fabrizius (Hon); 5. Berthoud MX confuses riders By Stacy Jensen BERTHOUD, CO, JUNE 23 Berthoud's new track layout posed some difficulties for riders from the Sports Riders Association of Colorado. With a start on the opposite side of the track coming dowuhill into a sharp right turn, it seemed to throw even the most seasoned Pros a little off. . The morning program held an abundance of excitement as there were qualifiers in four classes with most all others at full gate capacities. Robin Holiday placed first in the 12Sec Novice main with Mike Underwood Wayne Carmichael, Craig Hasto and Darren Corl filling out the top five. The Mini Novice maill was held after a field of 60 riders was whittled down to 40, and Dan Sekich, Brady Sharp, Dusty""Holman, Dustin Lookhardt and Marshall McCardy emerge with the top spots. The Open Novices showed a win for Don Scott, while Kirk Huff, Matt Seitz, Mike Oliver and Steve Barter stayed in front of the main runners after wading through qualifiers of 56 riders. The final qualifying class was in the 250cc Novices as 53 riaers banged bars and switched positions in their qualifiers to be able to ride the main. Here we witnessed a win by Derrick Matheny and a follow-up from Mike Scott, Kirk Huff, David McMechen and Steve Bartell to take home top five honors. The Seruor Novice Oass had a strong showing with 23 riders. These guys may be old in years but by no means in spirit or abilities. The top five from this class were Doug Hardin, Robert Gissel, John Longwell, Jim Lacy and David Peine. As the final checkered flew, the count for the day was placed at 660 riders. The track was excellent, company was fun and the races were aU exciting. l Chad Wallwork (4), Brad Frampton (7), Marlo Painter (121) and Jamie Munson (77) fight over second at round four of the Wild West National series, held in Boise, Idaho.
