Pineda picks up CRC Motocross Vet Win By Greg Robertson Joel Tokarsky (53) leads Lars Lindstrom on the way to the overall win In the 125cc Novice class during california Racing Club's Saturday night motocross at Los Angeles County Raceway. PALMDALE, CA, JUNE 8 Frank Pineda came from out of the pack in both motos to top the Vet Beginner class with a 3-1 score during California Racing Oubs' Saturday night motocross Radng at Los Angeles County Raceway. John Casdo had the quickest reaction time to lead the pack through the first turn as moto one began. Within a lap John Stich was all over Cascio and looking for a place to pass. Stich overtook Casdo for the lead but Casdo wasn't letting him get away and the duo quickly pulled away from the field. Jeff Reese held down third from the start, but by the midway point was being hounded by Matt Arant and Pineda. Pineda proved to be the fastest of the trio and took command of third, 10 seconds behind Cascio. Up front, vision problems must have been hampering Stich because once he tossed his goggles with a little over a lap remaining he was able to pull away from Cascio for the win. Pineda claimed third over Arant and Raphi Kassab. Reese and Stich battled for the second-moto holeshot until Stich slid out coming out of the first turn. Reese maintained the lead for a lap before Arant shot past. ·Casdo got a good start and was soon pressuring Arant for the top spot. Pineda reeled in the two front-runners by the halfway point, making it a three-rider dice for the lead. Pineda used an inside tine on Arant while passing through the over-and-under jump to move into second. With the white flag Qut, Pineda put the move on Cascio to grab the lead. Cascio chased Pineda all the way to the checkers for a close finish. Stich put in a great ride, fighting back for a fourth-place finish after his first tum incident to claim third <>verall.
