Timothy Bnaen (Hon) . lovinella rules at Aztec Raceway MX By Stacy Jensen COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, FEB.25 Tim Iovinella pu t togeth er the rides necessary to land th e 125cc Novice win at Spor ts Riders of Ame rica's season-opening round of motocross at Aztec Raceway, The day was full of non-stop racin g wh ich began at 7 a.m, and continued into the even ing hours with ove r 650 riders in attendance. As a resu lt of the large turnout. man y classes were left to run qua lifiers for the 4O-rider ma in events. On e of the mo st popular classes was the 83strong 125cc No vice class, Steve Fulton grabbed the holeshot, with Tim Iovinella, Chri s Philli ps and Ben Gree n hot on his heels. Iovinella was quick to tak e the lead and at the halfway point had ope ned up a 12second gap to speed away for the comfortable win. Eleventh-place sta rter Ty Alexa nder flew throug h the pack to move to second place at the finish, while Chad Sharp nabbed third at the line after gating fifth. Holesh ot artist Fulton faded to fourth with the steady-riding Chad Calhoun fifth. In the Pro classes. SRAC's Rider of the Year Chad Wo llaston blas ted to both the 125 an d 250cc wi ns . Tho ug h Jared Carlson nabbed the mot e-one holesh ot in 2S0cc class, Wollaston d rove righ t to the front of the pack and would run away.
