Mowe ry. Everyone knows that the Ride For Kids is a great way to raise money for a worthy cause. and to ha ve a good time , too. But on Sunday, March 17th , Y U'd O better get ready to have twice as much fun , because th is is a Ride For Kids with a difference - it's a Dual Sport event in the San Bernardino National Forest. Beginning C!-t Glen Helen Raceway, the sign- up time is from 7:00 AM till 8:30 AM the day of the ride, accomp anied by a free pancake breakfast for all participants. Minimum donation is $35.00, but collect as many donations as you can - all funds go toward suppo rt ing pediatric brain tumo r research. Wilson, Holden hot at Oakwood Short Track HONDA By Clay Ughl Riders Club ofA.merU:a ROY, WA, FEB. 17 National number 78 Don Wilson ca me away wit h a win in the Open Pro main at the Oak· wood Area, while National 80cc Champion jake Ho lden won the 80 and 125cc mains. Ron Waters .. a new national number ho ld er this year, won the flrs t of two Pro heat races, picking up a win over fellow Experts Speedy KeU and Eric Rickman. Heat two went to Wilson. who rode a borrowed Honda, with Pro-Am rider jeff Holford and Expert jaso n Enderso n trailing . Wilson motored to the head of the pack at the start of the Pro main event and was never headed. Waters, Kell and Rickman battled for second-place, with Waters taking the spot. KeU netted third ahead of Holford, the fourth-place finisher.. while Rickm a n nursed an ailing machine into fifth place. The 80cc class was the largest of the day, with three heat s taking the top two di rectl y to the A main. Hea t wi nners were Holden, Kyle Bunger and Dan Weipert. Brad Smith won the B main to fill the last of the seven avai lable slots. Holden led sta rt- t~fmish in the A main, while Bunger, Weipert, Sco tt Houseman and Chris Waite chased h im d o w n . The 250cc class was second to the 80cc class in number of entries and was nearly as exciting.
