Yezek won a ll fo ur of h is qua lifiers and claime d tw o wins on Sunday ahea d of Saturd ay winners Jim Ches ter an d Jim Neese. Yezek d ominat ed his heat races and was loo k ing fo r a good st art in Su nd a y ' s 12Scc main. He got it, coming through the first tu m in the lea d ahead of Jim Neese, Josh Steel and Jim C heste r. Gay lo n Dickson held off Ma tt Shue but he we nt down hard on lap one. Ou t fro nt, Yezek was hel d up by a lapped rider, and Neese closed in with two laps to go . Yezek 's feet came of f the pegs ove r the back double jump but he held on . H got si deways on the las t whoop, Yezek I said. "Bu t I deci ded to try and clear the double anyway." Yezek regain ed his m om en tu m and werit on to his firs t main-event win of th e weekend . Neese pu t in another excellent ride to take sec~ ond . Steel-edged Chester for th ird. and Matt Shu e snagged the fifth spo t. When Su nday's 2S0cc ma in w ent off the lin e, Gas Gas-mo unted M ark Mu s s elm a n grabbed the holesh ot ahead of Brock Sellard s. Yezek led Bowen, Dickso n and Neese, but Yeze k was rig ht on Sella rds ' rear wheel. Yezek block -passed Sellar ds for the secon d at the end of the gra nds tan d whoops. . Mu sselm an was the only ride r t ripling a t the end of the pit-side whoo ps and thi s move h elp ed h im ho ld o n to the top spo t u n til h e cou ldn 't d ear the back-sid e doubl e. Yezek and Se lla rds p assed him there and pulled away, leaving Mu s se lm a n to deal with Dic kso n , Neese and Bowen. WHen the checkered flag came down, Yezek had h is second Pro main win . Sellards put in his best ride of the weekend for second. Neese finished third ahead of Dickson and Bowen. H 28 (Top) Rusty Holland (71) puts some distance between himself and the rest of the 250cc Pro field during round two of the GFI California Winter Series at La Grange , California. Holland took top honors in this class as well as the 125 and 500cc Pro div isions. (Above) Josh Steel (368) leads J im Chester (89) and two-class winner Davey Yezek (40) at the Action Sports Indoor Motocross. In Saturday's 125cc main Josh Stee l timed the sta rti ng gate p e rfectl y and led Chester th rough the first tum. Chester then took advan· tage of a late-moto bobble by Steel to take the lead a nd go on to his first Action Sports win. Neese sha red the holes hot with Che ster in Sat · urday' s 250cc main event and then held on for the win ahead of Chester, Bowen, Shue a n d Yezek. LA GRAI\GE. CA. JAN. 14 Rou nd two of the GFI California Winter Series saw Rus ty Holland take top ho nors in the Pro ra nks with back-ta- back moto wins in the 125, 250 and SOOcc Pro classes. In the first I2Scc Pr o moto , Rodn ey Smith too k the holesh ot , followed by Holland, Scott Myers , Tyler Hummell and Jeff Pastan a. Ho iland soon to ok the lead. Pastana was also on the move, and by the end o f the third lap he found him self in second in front of Myers, w ho dropped Smith to fourth . Sp ud Walters had moved up to fifth from a mid pack sta rt. Hoiland ope ned up a fou T or five-second lead over Pastana . By the end o f la p five Wal te rs h ad dropped Myers and Smith a p osition . On the next ta p, Wa lters ma de a mo ve on Pas ta na going up the hill to tum one, dropping him to third. Out came the checkere d flag for Holland , Mth Walters second . Pastana held on to th ird, fourth we nt to Smith and Ryan round ed out the top five. Ho lland led at the start of the second mo to, with M y e rs , Sm it h , Humm el a nd Pa stan a round ing out the top five. Two tu rns int o lap two, Holland fou nd himself on the gro u nd, but was able to get remounted and roBing jus t in front of the closing Myers . Midway through the second lap Pas tana ha d gotten by Hummel an d Smith and was closing in on Mye rs_ Mye rs' front e nd ca me out of a n inside-comer rut, all owing Pastana to move into se co nd_ Up front, Holland continued to rail every comer and every obstacle, opening up a commanding lead over the entire field. It was Hollan d , Pastana. Smith. Myers and Dean Matson nQw running in the top five. With one lap to go, Pastana went down trying to recover from a braking bump on a fast downhill section. and remounted well out of the top five. Myer s also bob bled and dropped back a couple of po siti ons. Holland finish ed first, wi th Smith in second, Mat· son in third , Ryan in fourth and Myers in fifth. On the last lap, Arndt pushed pa st a tiring Mye rs, as d id Dickin so n, to pull off the upset of the series. McCann used a fourth-place finis h to clinch the class title ahead of Gary Moore. Th e 250cc-class championship came down to the final race of the sea so n. In the A main. George Prindiville holeshot aboard his Yamaha , followed by Rand y Jungwirth. Todd Hill, Id a h o ' s Cody Stone and Ma tt McCoy . Prindiville would never be challenged, while things got interesting behind him in a battle for seco n d between Jungwirth, Hill and St one_ Stone got around Hill, who had to finish fifth or better to w in the se ries , and se t out after Jungwirth. but couldn't catch him , netting third behind Prindiville and Jungwirth. who finis hed second and third in the series to Hill, who with fourth clinched the title.
