Fay runs away with ElmaIndoor Short Track By Clay Ugh t aMA, WA, JAN. 13 Mickey Fay proved that ove r two decades of d irt track racing experience doesn 't make one too old when he outrode a huge field of Expert and Pro-Am riders in the Pro main event at the District 27 season opener at the Gra ys Harbor Pavilion. National number 13 Fay, th e Northwest's premiere indoor short track rider, flew to a win in one of the three Pro heat races , beating Chris Fitzhugh who deb uted his National number 49 plates and also transferred directly. Heat two went Eric Rickman's wa y as he bea t Pro-Am rider Steve P ru cz in s ki, while the final heat placed Troy Rose and Mark Patterson into the ma in. Two semis placed Jason Anderson and Mike Harritt into the final; the last transfer to the elite A main we nt to Lee jensen. Fay sat the po le position for the 12-rider, 15- lap main, which was a mix of Expert and ProAm riders. Fay holeshot the field and was never challenged, breaking away from a battle for second between Fitzhugh, Rose, Anderson and Patters on. La te in the main Fay was long gone, w h ile things mixed up for second between Fitzhugh, Rose, Anderson and Rickman, a spot which was controlled by another of the seasoned ve terans, Fitzhugh, who edged out Rose, Ande rso n, Rickman, Patterson and first -lim e Pro-Am rider Todd Hagmann. Harrison W1QiITAFALLS, TX,JAN. 12-14 Billed as the "Mo nst er Trucks and Vintage and Performance Motorcycle Races," the first motorsp orts eve nt to be held at the brand-new j .S. Bridwell Agricultural Center was a complete sellout for three days. Even the Pee Wee class had the crowd on its feet as Logan WilliamS and Lucas Williams, along w ith Scott Beckley, jockeyed for the win. Lucas came out on top Frida y and Sunday with Logan triumphant on Saturday. In the 80cc class, Corby Williams won Friday night, Lucas Williams wo n Saturday and Merle Williams on Sunday. The Open Expert class was dominated Frida y nigh t by Charlie Orr and Bret Brady . The crowd had a cha llenge keeping the numbe rs straight with Orr number 87 and Brady 87X, but the rid ers put on a good show of very dose racing, with Orr taking the win. On Saturday, Scott Sherb got the holeshot, followed by Orr, Brady and j oe Duvall. Du vall lost ground as Orr and Brady bat tled for seco nd. At the finish it was Sherb, Orr and Brady. Sunday was Brady' s night to prevail. johnny Isaacs of Tulsa ruled the 6llOcc Pro Vin tage class for the entire weeken d, winning all four rounds. .
