WA,SEPT.17 A perfect day greeted racers al Washougal Motocross Park, with overcast conditions and more traction than most of us dream of, and it turned out to be an especially good day for Travis Gage and jay jackson. Marvin Waldo checked out from everybody in the first 12Scc moto, leaving Tim Meyer and . Travis Gage to battle for many laps before Gage was able to take over the lead. Gage was able to establish a com.fortable cushion over the last two laps and score the win with Meyer second, Steve Copher third and Travis Murphy passing jeremy Sahnow at the checkers for fourth. In mota two it was Mike Scheel with the holeshot over Copher, Scott Watson and Garhett Carter following. It took Waldo just a couple of laps before he was able to establish a lead that he would hold uncontested to the finish. Behind him were Carter, Copher, Matt Axelson, Gage and Tommy York all swapping positions for the lead. Carter looked great until the halfway point when Gage took over. On the next trip down the hill, Gage had dropped to fifth and Axelson was now challenging Carter for the lead. Axelson passed Carter and Gage did the same the. next lap, but it was Axelson taking the win with Gage second, Carter a strong third, Copher fourth and York fifth. Gage scored the overall win with a 12 score while Copher and Axelson rounded out Ihe top three. jay jackson dominated the 30-40 B motos with blistering wins over Pat Dougherty in moto one and Ted Devol m molo two. In the Over 25 class it was the same story as jackson bested Phil Johnson and Dave Lahn to win the first moto by a large margin. Schalow SUMMIT POINT, WV, OCT. 7 Hard-charging Jake Coye's mission was successful in his last-minute challenge for the lead to take a victory aboard his Kawasaki 1075 during round 26 of the WERA National Vintage Series at Summit Point Raceway. Less than two laps from the finish, Coye found his way through some lapped traffic in time to step up the pace and dice with Steven Von Borstel on an incredibly nimble GPZ550.
