sweeper to take the lead and never look back. DIttman maintained a good pace to claim second while Brian Gerth grabbed third. Moto two was somewhat of a repeat of the first moto. Hammond moved past Gerth and Dittman early in the mota to take the win while Chuck Gekle joined in the Dittman-and-Gerth battte. Dittman's Kawasaki was on the move and maintained a good lead over Gerth to finish themoto. The hollest youth battle of the day was without a doubt the 60cc class as a good bunch of 60 riders went at it. Carl Schlact had an outstanding ride to claim the title but not without a great battle from Brandon Butzin and 'Wild" Willie Hicks. It all came down to the last moto's closing laps as Sc.hlact claimed moto one and was pressuring Butzin for the lead in moto two. Butzin rode like a child possessed until the last lap when Schlact seemed a little stronger over the long Delta day track and motored by into the lead. Butzin recovered to claim second and Hicks took third overall. Up for grabs for all the youth classes were some beautiful trophies combined with several contingencies and prizes that had most mini riders walking home with trophies bigger than they were and their hands full of Wul£Sport products donated by Motoworld Accessories of Michigan. Murphy smokes Rolling Hills Enduro By TIm and Cindy Anderson BARTLIITT, lA, OCT. 1 Dennis Murphy smoked the competition at the Rolling Hills Enduro near Bartlett to gain the overall A honors. Murphy only dropped three points on his Nishna VaUey Cycle CR250 over the 100.3-mile course, and he djd this all without the aid of a computer as his unit went on the bHnk shortly after he left the start. Some 154 riders signed up to take on the two-loop enduro, which was run with the cooperation of 22 different landowners. Half of the racers were C riders, who only ride this one event all year. The closest competitor to Murphy was Walker Luedtke. He screamed his RM125 to a second overall and the AA win with a six-point drop. With all those challenging hills this could not have been an easy task on a 125. Tim Anderson finished wi th a second AA finish and third overall. beating 250cc A rider Lonnie Ross in a tie breaker. They both ended with a score of nine. Ross then took the 250cc A-class win On his RMX25O. Alan Wicks rode hjs KDX200 to win the 200cc A class with a final score of 22. The Open A class was again won by Paul Kelly on his CR500 with a score of 11. Sheldon Otto rode his KX to the front of the Senior A class with a 29. Overall B honors went to Quentin Goodman with a 23. Dustin Goodman won the overall C honors also with a score of 23, which would have beaten the majority of the A riders. Results 0/ A A: 1. Specht speedy at CRC MX By Greg Robertson PALMDALE, CA, SEPT. 23 John Specht turned a couple of good starts into runaway victories in the 125cc Beginner class during California Racing Oub's Saturday-night motocross racing at Los Angles County Raceway. The first mota was a Specht benefit as the Desert Wheels-backed CR125 pilot led uncontested from the drop of the gate to the checkered flag. Anthony Bonello, Bryan Lang, Chris UlusIre and Jeremy Ferro had a great battle for second place. Lang went down and collected Ferro in the process at one point. Lang quickly remounted and charged back up to the front of the group to take a close second-place finish over Ulustre. Lang ran out front for half a lap in the second mota before Specht shot past hjm. Lang hung with Specht for a couple of laps before Specht stretched his lead to five seconds, which he would maintain until the finish. Ferro and UJuslre both fell in the same comer but both managed to snce their way back up through the field to finish third and fourth, respectively. Scott Johnson got around fast slarter Colin Couto on the opening lap of the first 250cc ];ttermediate moto. Couto studied Johnson's lines for a couple of laps before taking back the lead at the base of the over-and-under jump. Johnson stayed glued to Cooto's back fender all the way to the finish to make him earn the win. Robbie Dunham and Mark Allen were never more than a few feet apart for the entire moto with Dunham getting the nod for third. Couto holeshol mota two and quickly pulled away from Dunham, Danny Jovanovich and Johnson, who went around Jovanovich then squared off under Dunham to move into second. Dunham tried to retaliate in the following comer with a like move, but ended up hitting Johnson and going down. Couto used a mistake-free ride to collect the second-mota win. Johnson was just as fast as Couto but couldn't reel him in and had to sellie for second in the standings. AUen held off Dunham this time for third. Result. P/W &-2: 1. Doug Cuter (KTM); 2.
