took his first practice run on the 1oo-yard strip
as he set his sight.s on a new Open-class btle
with his first appearance at a grass drag competi tion. But be faced some tough competition in
the likes of Chad Falde, who won not only the
Open-class title but a.lso the Fastest Rider of the
Day title at an event held here m June.
.
Falde was hoping for another VlctOry m tile
final round aboard his four-cylinder Honda and
mdeed gave Bronk a run for his money, but it was
Bronk who took the checkered flag for the win.
The 501-750cc class was a battle of the KTMs.
Where Dave Perrigo and his '95 550 went up
a gainst Jay Parmeter, who showed up with a
b rand-new, pumpkin-orange '96 KTM 550.
Parmeter held off Perrigo in the first half of competition, and it looked like he would take the
win, but Perrigo's combination of experien~e
was a bit too much for Parmeter, who was satisfied with a runner-up finish in the final.

Triplett tames Cambridge TT
Randy Triplett (281<) slid to the Open Pro
class victory at the Cambridge TT.
By TIm McBride
Sheedy's lone loss at South Central came at
the hands of Marty Vaughn, who broke
Sheedy's win streak last mon·th and was on
hand today to start one of his own.
As the band snapped for the opening UScc
A moto, they were off. Sheedy grabbed the early
lead and extended it by lap one to approXImately two bike lengths. In the middle of lap two,
however, Vaughn took advantage of a Sheedy
slide and squeezed by him on the inside. The
MO riders separated themselves from the test of
the field as Alex Rossetto and Chad Rhine battled for third.
.
Sheedy and Vaughn were neck and neck
before Sheedy saw his chance to get away in a
turn and that was all she wrote as Vaughn
could not keep pace. Sheedy earned the win followed by Vaughn, Rossetto and Rhine.
In moto two it was more of the same, as
Sheedy grabbed the holeshot followed by
Vaughn, Rhine, and Robbie Robertson. Sheedy
maintained the lead through the operung lap,
but he was once again overtaken by Vaughn
on a nice move to the inside. Vaughn was
bound and determined to retain his status as
the best 12Scc A rider and held the lead
through the white flag, followed closely by
Sheedy, Rhine, and Robertson. However,
Sheedy was not to be denied, and, on the final
lap he overtook Vaughn on a small double
and never looked back. The crowd showed it's
appreciation as Sheedy took the checkered
flag, followed by Vaughn, Rhine, Robertson,
and Clinton Baird. This was also the overall
order for the day after Rossetto, who placed
third in moto one, and Ryan Dare who placed
fifth in moto one, both had mechanfcal difficulties in moto two.
Sheedy had much less difficulty in the 250cc
A class, as there was no Marty Vaughn to challenge him. Sheedy grabbed holeshot and cruIsed
to a first-place finish in both motos and .handily
picked up another overarI Victory.

Tiearneys reign at
Riverfront Motocross
By John Sliva
MARYSVrLLE, CA, SEPT. 23
The Tieamey brothers proved winning is a family tradition by toppIng their respective classes in
Marysville's annual Trans-Cal cJasSlC at Riverfront Park.
.
Older brother Justin dominated both the
125cc and 250cc Professional classes aboard his
O'Neal/Michaels Suzuki-backed RMs while
Nathan Tierney won the 80cc (14-16) class in
addition to posting a close second in the tough
80cc Open contest. The Tiearneys were.part of an
impressive turnout of well over 300 nders who
com peted on the Charlie Sexton-designed track.
In the first 250cc Pro moto, Tieamey was held
to second by Scott Myers, after a 10-lap battle.
Shaun Wooten rode smooth to third-place v.rith
Tyler Hummel and Dustin Bloomfield rounding
out the top five in the 10-rider Pro field.
In the second moto, Tieamey found the extra
speed he needed to outpace Myers, and held
Myers off to take the moto and class win. Hummel scored a consistent third both for the mota
and overall, with Jon Nelson and Jake Windham
breaking into the top five this time around.
In the l2Scc contest, Tiearney led virtually
every lap to post a sweep of both motos over
Myers.
..
.
Nathan Tiearney had tough competition m
the 80cc wars from Michael Diloreto, and the
two hotshots from Carson City, Nevada, went at
it hammer-and-tongs each time out. When the
final results were posted, Diloreto garnered the
8Occ-Open class win, while Tiearney triumphed
in the 14- to 16-year-old class.
