Malt Carpenter w.as also on the move, coming from a last-place start to run fourth within a lap. Lang was cutting some fast laps and by the 1S-minute mark had closed to the back fender of Eide, and was looking for a place to pass. Ferro slowly reeled in Lang, making it a three-rider battle for the top spot. By the midway point, Ferro relegated Lang back to thind as Eide started picking up the pace out Iront. Ferro wasn't able to hang with Eide, as he started stretching his lead by a couple of seconds a lap. The second half of the race was all Eide's. He ended up taking the checkered flag with a commanding 25-second lead, catching and passing all the 2S0cc Beginners and all but one SOOc.c Beginner who had started before the 12Scc machines. "I tried to go hard for a couple of laps, then just pace myself," Eide said. ''It was a little muddy at the start, but the track got pretty good by the end." Ferro finished a lonely second.
