Hodges rules Moriarty MX By Jim Wagner MORIARTY, NM, AUG. 20 Visiting Pro Travis Hodges was the rider to watCh as he captured the 125cc A-class victory at the Moriarty MX track. Hodges, who finished in the AMA 125cc Western Regional Supercross races at Las Vegas, Nevada, and San Jose, California, won both the 125cc A motos, but not without presSUIe from RyanOark. ISaiah Johnson, an aggressive 16-year-old, got the holeshot in the first 125cc A moto, but Hodges blew by him six turns into the race. Clark also swept by Johnson into second place, and in a bold move halfway through the first lap, out-gassed Hodges over a 100-foot tabletop jump. Two turns later, Hodges muscled his way inside Clark in a . sharp tum and forced him ofI the track to take a permanent lead. Clark lost another position before recovering. but by the end of the moto he was only two seconds behind in second place. "He's coming along real well," Hodges said of Oark. "He just needs more experience against the fast guys - needs to learn the tricks." "[ knew coming into the Pro class that everybody's going to be more aggressive," Clark said. "You can't give anybody the inside line or ihey'li take it, especially at the Pro level." In the second 1250c A moto, Clark got the holeshot, with Hodges second. Hodges made his move on the third lap, sweeping past Clark in a turn to take the lead. Hodges would go on to take the 'win, scoring a sweep for the overall vi.c~ tory. 45
