Currie hot at Budds Creek National Motocross By Bev Gibson BUDDS CREEK, MD, JUNE 15 Paul Currie "(as the young man to beat at the Budds Creek National MX amateur day, taking a hard-fought win in the 125cc A class. Though the 18-year-old won both motos in the eighth-liter class, a tough challenge was presented by Virginian Shawn Shultz and Chad Sanner. Sanner had a rough start and moved through the field to close the gap on Currie, but the Pennsylvanian ran out of laps and had to sett1e for second. In moto two Currie again pulled the holeshot and ran wire-to-wire giving him the overall win on the day, with Sanner finishing second, Shultz third and District 7 racers Denny Williams and Chris B.rown rounding out the top five. Reed rocks at CCS Talladega Road Race By Bob Appleg8te TALLADEGA, AL,jUNE 17-18 A turnout devoid of Superstars and contingency hunters made for gneat racing at the midseason CCS round at Alabama's challenging 1.3-mil. Talladega Grand Prix Raceway where Mike Reed raced to the win in front of Southeast Region overall points leader Leslie Home to earn the victory in Heavyweight Superbike racing. At the drop of the green flag, Reed jumped quickly into the lead, only to be overtaken on lap two by Horne. GMD Computrack's Kent Soignier quickly moved to third, riding his best race in a long time. Home looked to be on the way to another win in his successful weekend and held off the advances of Reed - until the white-flag lap, finally getting nailed on the back side of the serpentine course. Reed held on for the win as his cheering section went wild. -
