Felix, and Nikki Harris. By lap two, Hondamounted Ben McClure caught and passed Harris for fifth spot, while Burns slowly inched
away (rom the competition. On the next goround Felix got out of shape on the approach to
a large double jump and both McClure and Harris doubled past him.
As the halfway signal came out, the battle for
second through fifth really got serious. Stewart
bobbled in a turn and went from third to sixth,
as McClure, Harris, and Todd Boyd railed by
him. A couple of laps later, Harris repassed
McClure and moved into third behind Holt. At
the checkers it was Bums taking the win followed by Holt, Harris, McClure and Boyd.
Bums took another win in the 250cc main
event. He was followed across the line by Kurt
Favre, Chris Verboom, Danny Rutherford and
Tom Odekirk.

Sutfin Soars at Flight
of the Eagle Trial

After a two-week delay the Sacramento PITS
"Flight of the Eagle" tria1 finally took off, with
Expert Dan Suffin dominating his class on Sunday.
Montesa riders Steve Muscatell and Jolmny
Moore continued their season-long battle in the
Senior Sportsman A division, with Museatell
narrowly edging out Moore. In the Sportsman A
class, Joe Eig-enman returned to trials after a
short layoff to score an easy victory. Bony ·Lowery and Darrell Beer tied for the lntennediate
class win. Lowery broke the tie by having the
most cleans.
Saturday's Vintage/Beginner series also saw
exciting competition. Phillipe Geslin mastered
the Modem Bike Advanced class, beating his
nearest opponent by 20 points, while Dan
Waller and Leland Mason tied for first place in
the Modem Bike Master division. Waller had
just enough cleans to take the class. The Modem
Bike lntermediate class winners were PITS newcomers Mike Mennick and Jason Frost, with 13year-old Frost finishing hi. first-ever trials event
with a second-place finish. Jim Zopfi also had a
strong ride, taking first in the Modern Oassie
lntennediate class.
