Fox outruns 'em at LACR MX By Greg Robertson PALMDALE,CA,JULY I Kawasaki-mounted Shane Fox roosted to a twomato sweep of the 80cc Begin, ner cJass at California Racing Club's Saturday night motocross at Los Angeles County Raceway. The first moto holeshot belonged to T.J. Berario with Fox, Eric Durrer and Blake Margheim in hot pursuit. Fox slowly closed in on aerario and made his bid for the lead while passing underneath the over-and-under jump on lap three. Margheim moved past Duner and into third, then inherited second place when Berario went down and dropped to 10th. Margheim reeled in Fox and the two front-runners slowly pulled away from Durrer in third. As the laps wound down, Margheim was unable to find a way past Fox, and Fox wasn't able to shake Margheim, resulting iIi' a close race right up until the checkered flag. Durrer finished third well ahead of Andrew Turner and Robert Bland. Moto two was a Fox benefit as he led every lap uncontested for the win. Bland and Margheim ganged up on Berario in the closing laps to make Bernrio really work for his secondplace finish. Margheim's fourth-place finish behind Berario and Bland allowed him to take home the second-place trophy. Dustin Courtney was equally impressive against a large field of J25cc Beginners. Courtney shot his Suzuki to an immediate rust-moto lead and would stretch that lead to over 10 seconds by the finish. Ryan Walters and Joe Barker argued oyer second until Barker slid out in a corner with just over a lap remaining. Barker got up to finish third ahead of Jeff Eide and Justin Cass. Eide's second moto lead only lasted half a lap before Courtney pushed him back to second _ and began another disappearing act en foute to his second win of the night. Eide ran second the. entire molo, holding off the challenges of Barker and Chris Pederson. Eide's 4-2 finishes edged out the 3-3 score of Barker for second in the final stages. --- - -.- -_ ... -- L.A.
